Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan apakah penggunaan media gambar memiliki dampak pada peningkatan hasil menulis siswa kelas tujuh di SMPN 4 Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan ekperimental dan siswa kelas tujuh di SMPN 4 Tarakan sebagai populasi. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 31 siswa dari kelas VII-11 yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Ada tiga tahap dalam penelitian ini yaitu pretest, treatment dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan skor rata-rata antara pretest dan posttest. Hal itu dibuktikan dengan hasil skor rata-rata siswa. Skor mereka adalah 60.42 di pretest dan 77.84 di posttest. Dapat dilihat bahwa peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa pada posttest lebih tinggi daripada pretest dan menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan dari nilai tulisan siswa antara pretest dan posttest. Selain itu, hasil dari uji-t sampel berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa uji-t 7.955 lebih tinggi dari t-table 2.042. berdasarkan hasil uji tersebut, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media gambar terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar menulis teks deskriptif siswa kelas tujuh di SMPN 4 Tarakan.

This study aimed to determine whether the use of picture media had an effect on writing achievement of the seventh grade students at SMPN 4 Tarakan. This research used pre experimental design and seventh grade students at SMPN 4 Tarakan as the populations. The number of sample in this research were 31 students of VII-1 which were chosen by using purposive sampling technique.There were three steps in this research namely pretest, treatment and posttest. The research result showed that there was different mean score between pretest and posttest. It was proved by the result of the students’ mean score. They were 60.42 in pretest and 77.84 in the posttest. It can be seen that the improvement of the students’ mean score in the posttest was higher than pretest and it indicated that there was significant difference from students’ writing score between pretest and posttest. In addition, the results of paired sample test showed that the calculated t value 7.955 higher than the critical t value (2.042). It was concluded that the use of the picture media was effective in improving writing achievement on descriptive text of the seventh grade students’ at SMPN 4 Tarakan.
