Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profile dan perbedaan hasil ujian bahasa Inggris peserta didik Sekolah Menengah Atas di kabupaten Bulungan di tinjau dari Level Ujian, Status Sekolah, Tempat Tinggal dan Tahun Ujian. Data penelitian ini diambil dari hasil ujian bahasa Inggris peserta didik Sekolah Menengah Atas di kabupaten Bulungan pada bulan Juni 2010. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa di 20 Sekolah Menengah Atas di kabupaten Bulungan yang terdiri dari 15 sekolah negeri dan 5 sekolah swasta. Sedangkan sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 1.225 peserta didik di 3 sekolah yaitu SMAN 1 Tanjung Selor, SMA Bulungan, dan SMA Perintis 01 Tanjung Palas Utara. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada profil hasil ujian bahasa Inggris SMA di Kabupaten Bulungan antar tahun dalam ujian nasional, ujian sekolah, ujian nasional dan ujian sekolah pada sekolah negeri, sekolah swasta, siswa di perkotaan dan siswa di pelosok/pedesaan untuk periode 2007 hingga 2010. (2) Nilai rata-rata berfluktuasi dalam tahun kategori Tinggi, Sedang, Rendah untuk semua jenis ujian dan variabel. Untuk hasil ujian nasional (UN), nilai rata-rata tertinggi berada di tahun 2009 dengan nilai rata-rata 7,15, sedangkan nilai rata-rata terendah berada di tahun 2010 dengan nilai rata-rata 4,83. Sementara untuk hasil ujian sekolah (US), nilai rata-rata tertinggi berada ditahun 2007 dengan nilai rata-rata 7,27, sedangkan nilai rata-rata terendah berada ditahun 2007 dengan nilai rata-rata 5,80, dan untuk hasil ujian nasional dan ujian sekolah (UN+US), nilai rata-rata tertinggi berada ditahun 2007 dengan nilai rata 7,15, sedangkan nilai rata-rata terendah berada ditahun 2010 dengan nilai rata-rata 5,70, sementara yang lain mengalami kenaikan dan penurunan dalam kategori sedang untuk ujian nasional, ujian skolah, ujian nasional dan ujian sekolah. (3) Terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara UN versus US per tahun untuk tahun 2007, 2008, 2009 dan 2010. (4) Terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara UN versus US di sekolah negeri, sekolah swasta, dan di perkotaan, dan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara UN versus US di pedesaan pada sekolah swasta. (5) Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara sekolah negeri versus sekolah swasta untuk kelompok UN, US, UN+US di tahun 2007, 2008, 2009 dan 2010. (6) Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara siswa di perkotaan versus siswa di pelosok/pedesaan untuk kelompok UN di tahun 2007, 2009 dan 2010, dantidakterdapatperbedaan yang signifikan di tahun 2008, untuk kelompok US, UN+US terdapat peberdaan signifikan antara siswa di perkotaan versus siswa di pelosok ditahun 2007, 2008, 2009 dan 2010.

The Aims of the study were principally to know the profile and the significant difference of English examination results students of the senior secondary school in Bulungan regency by considering examination levels, school status, residence and year of examination. The data were taken from the students’ results of English examinations of the senior secondary school in Bulungan on 11 th June 2010. The populations of this study were students in 20 schools of the senior secondary school in Bulungan which consists of 15 public schools and 5 private schools. While the sample of this study was 1225 students in 3 schools namely SMAN 1 TanjungSelor, Bulungan SMA, and SMA Perintis 01 TanjungPalas Utara. The samples in this study were taken by using purposive sampling. The results of this study showed that: (1) there are significant differences of the profile of English examination result of the senior secondary school in Bulungan among years in national examination, local examination, national and local examination at public school, private school, students in down town area and students in remote area for period 2007 to 2010. (2) The means score of years in category High, Moderate, and Low fluctuated in all examinations and all variables. For the national examination results (NE), the highest mean score was in 2009 with mean score is 7.15, while the lowest mean score was in 2010 with mean score is 4.83. Meanwhile for the local examination results (LE), the highest mean score was in 2007 with mean score is 7.27, whereas the lowest mean score was in 2007 with mean score is 5.80, and for the results of national examinations and school examinations (NE+LE), the highest mean score was in 2007 with the mean score is 7.15, while the lowest mean score was in 2010 with the mean score is 5.70, while others has an increase and decrease in the moderate category for the national examination, local examination, national examinations and local examinations. (3) There are significant differences between NE versus LE per year for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. (4) There are significant differences between NE versus LE in public schools, private schools, and down town areas, and there is no significant difference between NE versus LE in the remote areas at private school. (5) There are significant differences between public schools versus private schools for the NE, LE, and NE+ LE in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. (6) There are significant differences between students in down town versus students in remote for group NE in 2007, 2009 and 2010, and there is no significant differences in 2008, for group LE, NE+LE there is significant difference between students in the down town versus students in the remote in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
