Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan dan meneliti tingkatan dan korelasi antara pemahaman menyimak dan kemampuan menulis siswa lulusan SMP setelah menggunakan tes TOEFL yang terdiri atas dua variabel yaitu pemahaman menyimak dan kemampuan menulis. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Universitas Borneo, gedung Rektorat lantai 7. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah lulusan siswa SMP Tarakan,siswa kelas 1 SMA tahun pembelajaran 2010/2011. Penelitian ini menggunakan siswa sebanyak 30 orang. Subjek mendapat latihan dengan menggunakan tes TOEFL. Untuk menentukan dan meneliti tingkatan dan korelasi antara kemampuan mendengarkan dan menulis siswa lulusan SMP Tarakan, maka dilaksanakan latihan menggunakan tes TOEFL terhadap siswa-siswi yang ada didalam ruangan tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kemampuan mendengarkan sama baiknya dengan kemampuan menulisnya serta adanya korelasi antara kedua kemampuan tersebut untuk siswa lulusan SMP tahun pembelajaran 2010/2011.

The objective of this research is to determine and investigate the levels and correlation between listening comprehensions and writing ability of junior high school graduates after they were being given TOEFL test consist of two variables, listening comprehension and writing ability. This research has done in June 16 th 2012 at Borneo University, 7 floor of Rektorat building. Sample of this research are Junior High School graduates students of Tarakan, first grade students of Senior High School in academic year 2010/2011. This research used which is 30 students. Sample gets exercise from TOEFL test. The researcher want to determine and investigate the levels and correlation between Listening Comprehension and Writing Ability of Junior High School graduates students, so we have done the test by using TOEFL test on there. The result of this research indicated the levels of Listening comprehension is same good with Writing ability. Then, there was correlation between Listening comprehension and Writing Ability of Junior High School graduates of Tarakan city in academic year 2010/2011.
