Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan pengaruh penerapan strategi Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review (PQ4R) terhadap hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Tarakan. Penelitian yang dilakukan adalah eksperimen semu (quasi eksperiment), dengan Populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Tarakan tahun pembelajaran 2011/2012, dan sampel yaitu kelas VIII- 2 sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VIII- 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cluster purposive sampling. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan metode dokumentasi dan metode tes. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan software SPSS 16.0 for Windows. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan strategi Strategi Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review (PQ4R) terhadap hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Tarakan, karena nilai t hitung yang diperoleh sebesar 7,782 lebih besar dari t tabel 2,000. Penilaian terhadap proses PQ4R memiliki rata-rata yang tinggi sehingga kelas eksperimen lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol.

The research was aimed to explain the effect of applying Preview Question Read Reflect Recite dan Review (PQ4R) strategy on the result of learning Biology for students grade VIII at SMP Negeri 2 Tarakan. The experiment has been done by using quasi experiment method. Population of the research was all of students in the class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Tarakan in academic year of 2011/2012, the sample of the population was divided into two categories i.e. control class which was class of VIII- 2 and of VIII- 3 as experiment class. The sample has been determined using cluster purposive sampling method. The data has been collected using documentation and test method. The data has been obtained then analyzed using SPSS 16.0 program for windows. After the data was analyzed, it could be concluded that there was a significant effect of applying strategy of Preview Question Read Reflect Recite and Review (PQ4R) on the result of learning biology of students grade VIII SMP Negeri 2 Tarakan. This was because of the value of t accounted for 7.782 which was higher than t table count which pointed at 2.000. The assessment of PQ4R process has the highest average so, the experiment class is better than the control.
