Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris terhadap pembelajaran online selama Pandemi Covid-19 di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas, Borneo Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian Cross-sectional survey. Sebanyak 146 mahasiswa sebagai sampel angket dan 20 mahasiswa sebagai sampel wawancara dari tahun ajaran 2018, 2019, dan 2020. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket dan wawancara. Penelitian ini menunjukkan 58,9% siswa memberikan persepsi bahwa pembelajaran online tidak efektif dalam proses pembelajaran selama Pandemi Covid-19. Selain itu, 52,7% siswa tidak merasa termotivasi dalam proses pembelajaran online. Selain itu, peneliti memberikan bukti dari hasil angket dan wawancara bahwa sebagian besar siswa memberikan persepsi negatif terhadap proses pembelajaran melalui pembelajaran online dan keterampilan siswa tidak meningkat karena siswa tidak dapat berlatih langsung dengan teman-temannya. atau dosen. Adanya beberapa permasalahan dan kendala dalam pelaksanaan pendidikan online diharapkan dapat dievaluasi kedepannya, agar selalu siap ketika menghadapi situasi seperti ini. Peneliti masa depan dapat mengeksplorasi topik ini dengan menerapkan metode analisis data yang lebih ketat, melibatkan lebih banyak subjek, dan lebih banyak variabel.

This research aims to describe the perceptions of students of English education Department towards online learnimg during the Covid-19 Pandemic at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Borneo Tarakan. This research design used cross-sectional survey research. There were 146 students involved in this research and 20 selected of the students form 2018, 2019, and 2020 as the interviews sample. Research data findings were collected through questionnaires and interviews. This research showed 58.9% of students gave their perceptions that online leearning process was not effective in the learning process during the Covid-19 Pandemic. In addtions, 52.7% students felt unmotivated in the learning process. In additions, this research provided evidence form the result of questionnaires and interviews that most students negatively perceive the learning process. Therefore, students’ language skill did not increase because students could not practice directly with their friends or lecturers. Based on the research findings, it recomends that the implementations of online learning process was expected to be evaluated so that students are always ready when facing situations like the Covid-19 Pandemic. Future reserach is expected to explore this topic by applying more rigorous data analysis methods involving more subjects and variables.
