Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan unutk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca peserta didik dengan menggunakan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada peserta didik kelas sepuluh di sekolah mengah atas 2 Tarakan. Penelitian ini berdasarkan pada observasi yang menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik masih memiliki pemahaman yang kurang pada pemahaman membaca. Dalam melaksanakan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode Classroom Action Research (CAR). Penelitian dilakukan mengikuti desain penelitian dari Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dan masing-masing siklus terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu: (1) Planning, (2) Action or Implementation, (3) Observation dan (4) Evaluation. Tiap siklus dilakukan dalam dua kali pertemuan. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu: lembar pengamatan dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan CTL dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca pada peserta didik kelas sepuluh di sekolah menengah atas (SMA) 2 Tarakan. Peningkatan pemahaman membaca peserta didik dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata dan presentase peserta didik pada pre-test adalah 2,85 dengan presentase 5% dan meningkat hingga 77,85 dengan presentase 85% pada Post-Test atau telah meningkat dari tes sebelumnya sebanyak 16%. Penelitian ini berhasil karena jumlah peserta didik yang dinyatakan lulus mencapai 75% dimana penelitian dinyatakan sukses apabila peserta didik memperoleh nilai kelulusan minimum setidaknya 70. Berdasarkan hasil di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi dari CTL dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca pada peserta didik kelas sepuluh di sekolah menengah atas 2 Trakan.

This study aims to improve students' reading comprehension by using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in tenth grade students at secondary school 2 Tarakan. This research is based on observations which show that students still have a poor understanding of reading comprehension. In carrying out this research, the researcher used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The study was conducted following the research design of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, this research was carried out in two cycles and each cycle consisted of four stages, namely: (1) Planning, (2) Action or Implementation, (3) Observation and (4) Evaluation. Each cycle is carried out in two meetings. The instruments used in this study are: observation sheets and tests. The results showed that using CTL can improve reading comprehension in tenth grade students at high school (SMA) 2 Tarakan. The increase in students' reading comprehension can be seen from the average value and the percentage of students in the pre-test is 2.85 with a percentage of 5% and increases to 77.85 with a percentage of 85% in the Post-Test or has increased from the previous test as much as 16 %. This study was successful because the number of students who passed reached 75% where the study was declared successful if students obtained a minimum passing score of at least 70. Based on the above results it can be concluded that the implementation of CTL can improve reading comprehension in tenth grade students in high school. 2 Tractors.
