Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan HOTS siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika pada PISA. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XII MIA SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan. Pemilihan subjek dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling dengan subjek terpilih dari masing-masing kategori yaitu; 2 subjek kategori tinggi, 2 subjek kategori sedang dan 2 subjek kategori rendah. Prosedur pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini adalah subjek diberikan permasalahan matematika pada PISA dengan kategori HOTS, peneliti melakukan wawancara dengan subjek untuk memperoleh informasi dari hasil pekerjaan subjek dan peneliti merekam hasil wawancara dengan subjek.
Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa subjek kategori tinggi mampu memenuhi seluruh indikator meliputi indikator menganalisis, mengevaluasi dan mencipta dengan baik dalam menyelesaikan soal tes PISA. Subjek kategori sedang mampu memenuhi indikator menganalisis dan mengevaluasi, akan tetapi subjek kategori sedang hanya mampu memenuhi 1 indikator pada mencipta yaitu indikator generating. Subjek kategori rendah mampu memenuhi indikator menganalisis dan mengevaluasi. Akan tetapi, subjek kategori rendah belum mampu memenuhi seluruh indikator mencipta yaitu generating, planning dan producing.

This research aims to describe the students’ HOTS ability to fix the PISA’s mathematics questions. The research subject was the twelfth grade of MIA students’ of SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan. The subjects were taken by using purposive sampling technique where the sample chosen by each category namely, 2 higher category, 2 middle category, and 2 lower categories. The procedure of the data collection was the researcher gave the PISA’s mathematics problem which categorized as HOTS question, the researcher held the interview to gain the information from the result of the subjects’ work sheet and record it to make a documentation. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that the subjects who are in the higher category are able to fulfill all of the indicators, in between analyzing, evaluating, and creating well to fix the PISA’s question test. The subjects who are in the middle category are able to fulfill two indicators, namely analyzing and evaluating, while the subjects who are in the creating indicator is only gaining the sixth indicator (generating). The subjects who are in the lower category are able to fulfill two indicators, namely analyzing and evaluating. However, the subjects who are in the lower category is unable to reach all of the indicators creating namely generating, planning and producing. Keywords: Higher Order Thinking Skills, PISA
