Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan metode Mind Mapping dalam pengajaran menulis teks deskriptif pada siswa kelas sepuluh di SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi experimental. Sampel diambil menggunakan purposive sampling technique. Ada dua kelompok yang diambil sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini. Kelompok eksperimen diajarkan menggunakan metode Mind Mapping dan kelas kontrol diajarkan menggunakan Word Wall. Intrumen penelitian ini adalah tes tertulis. Data yang dianalisis adalah data nilai hasil pre-test dan post-test dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dalam menganalisis data peneliti menggunakan independent sample Ttest menggunakan SPSS 22.0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 71,23 dan nilai rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 67.00. Nilai T-table adalah 2,000 dan nilai T-test adalah 2,020. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai T-test lebih tinggi daripada nilai T-table (2,020 > 2,000). Tidak hanya hasil dari independent sample Ttest tapi nilai probabilitas juga lebih rendah daripada tingkat signifikansi (0,048 < 0,05). Dengan kata lain, hipotesis nol (H0) di tolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Hasil analisis data membuktikan bahwa hasil pengajaran menggunakan metode Mind Mapping lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan Word Wall. Berdasarkan hasil diatas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Mind Mapping dalam pengajaran menulis teks deskriptif pada siswa kelas sepuluh di SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan lebih efektif daripada menggunakan Word Wall.

The aim of this research was to find whether or not Mind Mapping Method has significant effect in improving the students’ writing skill on descriptive text at tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan. This research used quasi experimental design. The samples were taken by using purposive sampling technique. There were two group as the samples of this research. The experimental group was taught by using Mind Mapping method and control group was taught by using Word Wall. The instrument of this research was written test. The analyzing data was from pre-test and post-test of experimental class and control class. In analyzing the data, the researcher used independent sample T-test with SPSS 22.0. The result of this research showed that the mean score of experimental group was 71,23 and the mean score of control group was 67,00. T-table value was 2,000 and T-test was 2,020. It indicated that the value of T-test was higher than T-table (2,020 > 2,000). Not only the result of independent sample T-test but also the probability value was less than level of significance (0,048 < 0,05). In other words, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that the use of Mind Mapping Method in teaching writing on descriptive text at tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan more effective than Word Wall.
