Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui apakah buku teks edisi guru berguna dalam menyiapkan Rancangan Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) dan bagaimana aspek-aspek yang tercakup di dalam edisi guru bisa telah mempengaruhi guru-guru Amerika yang selama ini memakainya. Dijumpai bahwa keberadaan buku teks edisi guru sangat membantu bukan hanya guru-guru pemula, namun juga membantu guru-guru yang sudah mengajar selama lebih dari 25 tahun. Dijumpai bahwa 56% guru-guru tersebut sangat mengandalkan edisi guru dalam menyiapkan RPP sementara 35,4% butuh tapi mampu menyeimbangkan antara ide sendiri dan ide dari edisi guru. Hanya 5,7% yang tidak membutuhkan buku teks edisi guru dari 175 orang responden. Sementara itu, 77,1% responden mengakui kegunaan edisi guru dalam menyiapkan materi, 19,4% merasa lumayan berguna, dan 3,4% mengatakan bahwa edisi guru tidak berguna. Komentar responden tentang aspek-aspek yang terdapat dalam edisi guru adalah perannya yang mampu menghadirkan fungsi pelatihan guru setiap hari. Juga dijumpai komentar-komentar yang menyatakan bahwa guru tidak bisa langsung menjadi kreatif, atau selalu kreatif sepanjang waktu. Ada kalanya mereka merasa buntu dan butuh bantuan ide. Pada saat seperti itu, buku teks edisi guru selalu menjadi tempat pertama dalam mencari solusi. Komen yang juga dijumpai adalah bagaimana responden percaya diri dan yakin selalu mampu menghadirkan pengajaran berstandar nasional di kelasnya setiap hari karena mempunyai contoh yang standar dari sumber yang terpercaya.


The objective of this research was to find out whether or not teacher’s teaching guide helpful for teachers to make their lesson plan and classroom performance. To describe the helpfulness of teacher’s teaching guide, the study aimed to find the aspects that help teachers to improve and enhance their classroom teaching. It was found that teacher’s teaching guide is needed not only by the novice teachers, but also the experienced and senior teachers who had taught for more than 25 years. There were 56% of the teachers relied heavily on teachers teaching guide and 35.4% needed it lightly with balance between taking ideas from the manual and using their owns. Only 5,7% who claimed that they didn’t need the teacher’s guide out of 175 orang respondents. Meanwhile, 77,1% respondents claimed the helpfulness of teacher’s teaching guide, 19,4% thought it to be somewhat helpful, dan 3,4% did not find it helpful. The comments about the aspects were about how teacher’s teaching guide acted as a tutor to the respondents in daily basis. Also found, the comments about teachers who were not born creative, and who cannot be creative at all time. There were times when teachers needed ideas from others and teacher’s teaching guide was first in their list. The comment that is important to note in this study is how respondents confidently believe that they had performed the state standard teaching in the classroom everyday because they had the example which come from a reliable source.
