Abstract

Tujuan penelitian tindakan kelas ini untuk meningkatkan hasil pencapaian siswa dalam menulis teks analytical exposition melalui komik di kelas XI-1 SMA Muhammadiyah Tarakan. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Prosedur tindakan ada empat tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 30 siswa di kelas XI-1 SMA Muhammadiyah Tarakan tahun akademik 2013/2014. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi guru, lembar observasi siswa, dan tes menulis siswa. Data-data tersebut dianalisis secara kuantitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, pada siklus satu terdapat dua puluh dua atau 73% siswa yang gagal dalam tes menulis dan delapan atau 27% siswa yang berhasil dalam tes menulis. Namun, pada siklus dua terdapat sepuluh atau 33% siswa yang gagal dalam tes menulis dan dua puluh atau 67% siswa yang berhasil dalam tes menulis. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa komik dapat meningkatkan hasil pencapaian siswa kelas 2 SMA Muhammadiyah Tarakan dalam menulis teks Analytical Exposition.

The objective of this classroom action research was to improve the students’ achievement on writing analytical exposition text through comic at class XI-1 of SMA Muhammadiyah Tarakan. The design of this research was classroom action research (CAR). The procedure of the action had four stages which were planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subject of the research consisting of 30 students at class XI-1 of SMA Muhammadiyah Tarakan academic year 2013/2014. The instruments used were teacher’s observation sheet, students’ observation sheet, and the results of writing test. Those data were analyzed quantitatively. This research was conducted in two cycles, in cycle one there were twenty two students or 73% failed in writing test and there were eight students or 27% succeeded in writing test. In cycle two there were ten students or 33% failed in writing test and there were twenty students or 67% succeeded in writing test. Thus, it can be concluded that comic can improve the achievement of students at class XI-1 of SMA Muhammadiyah Tarakan on writing analytical exposition text.
