Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam menulis narrative text melalui gambar kartun seri. Sesuai dari tujuan penelitian, maka metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek dari penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X-4 Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Tarakan tahun ajaran 2013/2014 yang terdiri dari 32 siswa sebagai sampelnya. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan pada bulan Mei sampai bulan Juni 2013. Berdasarkan pada pengamatan awal pada tanggal 1 januari, peneliti menemukan data awal siswa pada menulis tesk narasi sangat rendah. Hanya 7 dari 32 siswa yang mencapai KKM yang telah ditentukan di sekolah. Sehingga, peneliti menggunakan gambar kartun seri untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam menulis teks narasi. Di dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan 2 siklus. Hasil tindakan menunjukkan bahwa prestasi siswa meningkat dalam menulis teks narasi setelah peneliti menggunakan gambar kartun seri sebagai media pembelajaran, sebagaimana ditunjukkan pada hasil tes mereka. Criteria keberhasilan pada penelitian adalah sekurang-kurangnya 75% siswa yang mencapai KKM. KKM yang telah ditentukan di sekolah yaitu 71. Berdasarkan hasil tes tertulis pada siklus pertama ditemukan bahwa ada 41% siswa yang sudah mencapai KKM. dan meningkat sampai 84% siswa telah berhasil didalam tes tertulis pada siklus kedua. Sehingga, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa prestasi siswa dalam menulis narrative text melalui gambar kartun seri dapat meningkat.



The objective of this research was to improve students’ achievement on writing narrative text through the series of cartoon pictures. The research method which used in this research was class action research. The subject of the research was the students of the first grade especially X-4 grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Tarakan on academic year 2013/2014 consisting of 32 students as the sample. The action research was conducted from May to June 2013. Based on the preliminary study on January 1st, 2013, the researcher found the first students’ score on writing narrative text was very low. Only 7 of 32 students achieved the minimum passing grade that had been determined in that school. So, the researcher used the series of cartoon pictures to improve students’ achievement on writing narrative text. In this research, the researcher used two cycles. the result of action showed that the students’ achievement on writing narrative text can improve after the researcher used the series of cartoon pictures in teaching and learning process as shown in the result of their test. The criterion of success of this research was 75% students who achieved the minimum passing grade. The minimum passing grade that had been determined in the school was 71. Based on the result of students’ test in cycle one, the researcher found that there were 41% students who achieved the minimum passing grade and improved to 84% students who success in cycle 2. So, the researcher concluded that the students’ achievement on writing narrative text through the series of cartoon pictures can improve.
