Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pencapaian siswa dalam pemahaman membaca menggunakan teknik kepala bernomor siswa XI-A di SMA Mulawarman Tarakan tahun akademik 2012-2013. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus. Masing-masing siklus terdiri dari 4 tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Jumlah siswa 36 dari kelas XI-A di SMA Mulawarman Tarakan tahun akademik 2012-2013. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes tertulis dan lembar pengamatan (lembar pengamatan guru dan lembar pengamatan siswa). Hasil belajar siswa pada siklus I adalah 69% dari 36 siswa dan hanya 31% yang gagal dan siklus II adalah 81% dari 36 siswa dan hanya 19% yang gagal. Kesimpulan penelitian tindakan kelas ini yang menggunakan teknik kepala bernomor pada pengajaran materi naratif teks pada siswa kelas (XI-A) di SMA Mulawarman Tarakan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa.
The objective of the research was to improve the students‘ achievement in reading comprehension using Numbered Heads Together technique in the eleventh grade of SMA Mulawarman Tarakan in academic year 2012-2013. This CAR (Class Action Research) was conducted in two cycles, which consisted of four meetings and covered planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 36 students of XI-A in SMA Mulawarman Tarakan on academic year 2012/2013. The instruments used by the researcher were written test and observation notes ( teacher‘s observation and students‘ observation). The result of students‘ success in cycle 1 was 69% of 36 students and only 31% were failed and cycle II was 81% of 33 students and only 19% were failed. The conclusion in this CAR (Class Action Research) which using numbered heads together technique in teaching narrative text in the eleventh (XI-A) grade students in SMA Mulawarman Tarakan could improve the students‘ reading comprehension.
