Abstract
Tujuan Penelitian tindakan kelas ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam membentuk kalimat menggunakan word square siswa VI-B di SDN 031 Tarakan Tahun Akademik 2013/2014. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Tahap penelitian ini terdiri dari: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VI-A SDN 031 Tarakan Tahun Akademik 2013/2014 jumlah siswa sebanyak 26. Instrument yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi guru, lembar observasi siswa dan tes tertulis. Teknik dalam menganalisis data adalah secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil tes menulis siswa pada siklus pertama ada 14 atau 54% siswa mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal kemudian pada siklus kedua meningkat menjadi 24 atau 92% siswa mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal. Hasil dari pengamatan aktivitas guru dan siswa dalam kategori baik. Word Square mempengaruhi antusias kepercayaan diri siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa media word square efektif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam membentuk kalimat pada pengajaran simple present tense dalam proses pembelajaran.
The purpose of Classroom Action Research is to improve the students’ achievement on constructing the sentences in simple present tense by using word square at class VI-B of SDN 031 Tarakan in Academic Years 2013/2014. The design of this study is classroom action research (CAR). The procedures of the research were consisted: planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subject of the research was the students in class VI-A of SDN 031 Tarakan, the total of the students is 26. Instruments of the research were the observation notes and written test. The technique of analysis the data was qualitative and quantitative. The result of writing test in the first cycle was found that 14 or 54% students reached the criteria of success, and then improved in the second cycle to 24 or 92% students reached the criteria of success. The result of observation for teacher activity was good category. Word square media encourage the students’ enthusiasm and confident during the learning process. Based on the finding, it can be summed up that word square media was affective to improve students’ achievement in constructing the sentences in simple present tense in learning process.
