Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kepercayaan diri siswa dengan prestasi berbicara pada siswa kelas XI SMKN 1 Tarakan. Ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI. Dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling, diambil 85 dari 431 siswa di kelas sebelas sebagai sampel penelitian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan angket, dan hasil belajar berbicara siswa diambil dari dokumen penilaian guru mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris semester pertama tahun pelajaran 2020/2021. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan Pearson Product Moment dengan bantuan SPSS versi 22.00, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara skor kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan berbicara siswa yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai signifikan ( 0,000 0,210).

This research was conducted to determine the relationship between student confidence and speaking achievement in class XI SMKN 1 Tarakan. This is a quantitative research with a correlational design. The population in this study were students of class XI. By using simple random sampling technique, 85 out of 431 students in the eleventh grade were taken as the research sample. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire, and student speaking learning outcomes were taken from the assessment document for the English subject teacher in the first semester of the 2020/2021 school year. Data were analyzed statistically using Pearson Product Moment with the help of SPSS version 22.00, the results showed that there was a significant correlation between students' self-confidence scores and speaking ability which was indicated by a significant value (0.000 0.210).
