Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan hasil Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris berdasarkan status sekolah, akreditasi sekolah, jenis kelamin dan prestasi siswa. Jumlah siswa SMP Kabupaten Berau tahun ajaran 2018/2019 adalah 4063 siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa (1) sekolah swasta lebih baik dari sekolah negeri (2) akreditasi sekolah tidak berpengaruh terhadap hasil ujian nasional bahasa inggris dimana peneliti menemukan bahwa sekolah dengan akreditasi rendah ternyata memiliki bahasa inggris nasional yang lebih baik. Hasil ujian (3) siswa perempuan lebih baik dari pada siswa laki-laki (4) dan untuk prestasi siswa pada Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris tergolong dalam kategori buruk. Berdasarkan perhitungan, hasil Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris untuk masing-masing variabel menunjukkan nilai signifikan lebih kecil dari taraf signifikan 0,05. H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Hal ini dapat diindikasikan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan hasil Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris SMP di Berau dari segi status sekolah, akreditasi sekolah, jenis kelamin dan prestasi belajar siswa.

This research aimed to describe and find out whether there was any significant difference in English National Examination result by considered school status, school accreditation, gender and student’s achievement. There were 4063 students of Junior High School Berau Regency in academic year 2018/2019. The method of this research was quantitative. Based on the results of data analysis, it found that (1) private school was better than the public school (2) school accreditation were not influences toward the English National Examination results where the researcher found that schools with lower accreditation apparently have better English National Examination results (3) the female students were better than male students (4) and for student’s achievement on English National Examination results were classified in a poor category. Based on the calculation, English National Examination result for each variable showed that the significant value was less than level of significant 0,05. H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be indicated there was a significant differences on English National Examination result of Junior High School in Berau by considered school status, school accreditation, gender and students’ achievement.
