Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa dengan metode cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) pada siswa kelas X di SMKN 2 Tarakan. Metodologi dari penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di SMKN 2 Tarakan yang beralamat di Jl. Aki Balak, Tarakan Barat, Kalimantan Utara. Penelitian ini telah dimulai dari tanggal 29 Mei 2015 sampai 30 Mei 2015. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X jurusan Teknologi Informasi di SMKN 2 Tarakan yang berjumlah 39 siswa. Berdasarkan kriteria ketuntasan, hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) telah meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa. Ini bisa dibuktikan dari tes reading comprehension dan lembar observasi untuk aktifitas siswa dan aktifitas guru. Dari hasil tes reading comprehension pada siklus 1 ada 34 siswa yang tuntas dan 5 siswa yang tidak tuntas. Nilai tertinggi adalah A dan nilai terendah adalah C. Berkenaan dengan hasil dari penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada reading comprehension pada siswa kelas X Teknologi Informasi di SMKN 2 Tarakan.

The objective of this research was to improve the students’ reading comprehension through cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) method at the tenth grade students of SMKN 2 Tarakan. The design of this research was classroom action research (CAR). This research was conducted in SMKN 2 Tarakan located on Jl. Aki Balak, Tarakan Barat, Kalimantan Utara. This research was started from May, 23rd 2015 until 6 th June 2015. The subject of this research was the tenth grade students of Information Technology program at SMKN 2 Tarakan which consists of 39 students. Based on the criteria of success, the result of this research showed that cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) method can improve students’ reading comorehension. This was proven from the result of reading omprehension test, students and teacher’s observation. From the result of reading comprehension test in cycle 1, there were 34 students who could pass the minimum passing grade and 5 students were failed. The highest score was A and the lowest score was C. Concerning with the result of this research, it can be concluded that cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) method can improve the students’ reading comprehension at the tenth grade students of IT program at SMKN 2 Tarakan.
