Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pencapaian dalam kemampuan berbicara siswa melalui metode langsung. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini terdiri atas dua siklus, masing-masing siklus terdiri atas tiga pertemuan. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes performa dan lembar pengamatan guru dan siswa. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan pada bulan
Januari sampai bulan Februari 2014. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, menunjukkan bahwa setelah peneliti melakukan tindakan, prestasi siswa dalam kemampuan berbicara meningkat
sebagaimana yang ditunjukkan pada hasil observasi siklus pertama terdapat 12 siswa dari 33 siswa yang berhasil atau 36% dan pada siklus kedua mengalami peningkatan menjadi 26 siswa dari 33 siswa atau 79% itu berarti pada siklus kedua siswa dinyatakan berhasil mencapai nilai kriteria ketuntasan minimal (KKM) yaitu 75, Serta mencapai batas ketuntasan pada predikat baik yaitu 70%. Sehingga, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode langsung dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa.

The objective of this research was to improve students? achievement on speaking through direct method. The classroom action research consists of two cycles, each cycle comprises three meetings. The instruments used by the researcher were test performance and observation sheets (Teacher and Students). The action research was conducted from January to February 2014. Based on the result of observation, the result of the action showed that after the researcher conducted the actions, the students? achievement on speaking performance through direct method improved as shown in the first cycle got 12 of 33 students were success as same as 36% all of students and the second cycle improving to 26 of 33 students as same as 79% students achieved the criteria of passing grade was 75 and achieved the criteria of success in level good was 70% all of students. So, it can be concluded direct method can improve students? achievement on speaking performance.
