Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa dalam menulis teks deskripsi melalui tipe pembelajaran examples non examples pada siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 10 Tarakan tahun akademik 2015/2016. Desain penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 10 Tarakan Jl. Amal Lama Kelurahan Pantai Amal Kecamatan Tarakan Timur. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-1 yang terdiri dari 29 siswa. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Masing-masing siklus terdiri dari empat langkah; perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi aktifitas guru dan aktifitas siswa, wawancara, dan tes tertulis. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan prestasi siswa pada siklus II. Pada siklus I, hasil dari tes menulis deskripsi menunjukkan bahwa hanya ada 11 siswa atau 38% dari 29 siswa yang tuntas dan ada 18 siswa atau 62% dari 29 siswa yang tidak tuntas. Pada siklus II, terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa sebanyak 24 siswa atau 83% dari 29 siswa yang tuntas dan hanya ada 5 siswa yang tidak tuntas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tipe pembelajaran examples non examples dapat meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam menulis teks deskripsi pada siswa


This research aimed to improve the students’ achievement in writing a descriptive text through examples non examples learning type at eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 10 Tarakan. The research design was Class Action Research (CAR). It was conducted at SMP Negeri 10 Tarakan located on Jl. Aman Lama Kelurahan Pantai Amal Kecamatan Tarakan Timur. The subject of this research was class VIII-1 consisting of 29 students. This CAR was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages; planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The instruments used by the researcher were observation sheet for teacher’s activities and students’ activities, interview and written test. The result of this research showed that there was an improvement of students’ achievement in cycle II. In the first cycle, the result of descriptive writing test showed that there were only 11 students or 38% of 29 students who passed the criteria of success and there were 18 students or 62% of 29 students who were failed due to the criteria of success. In the second cycle, it was increased by the students’ writing test result that there were 24 students or 83% of 29 students who passed the criteria of success and there were only 5 failed students. Based on the research result, it can be inferred that examples non examples learning type could improve the students’ achievement in writing a descriptive text at VIII-1 students of SMP Negeri 10 Tarakan in academic year 2015/2016.
