Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan prestasi membaca siswa dalam teks deskriptif melalui model pembelajaran two stay two stray. Sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian, maka metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek dari penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelasVII SMP Mulawarman Tarakan tahun ajaran 2015/2016 yang terdiri dari 40 siswa. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan pada awal bulan Mei sampai akhir bulan Mei 2016. Di dalam penelitian ini, peneliti bertindak sebagai observer dan guru kolaborator bertindak sebagai guru yang mengajar skill reading dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran two stay two stray. Peneliti melaksanakan dua siklus Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, data yang ditemukan hasil tes siswa pada kedua siklus sudah menunjukkan peningkatan. Hasil dari tindakan menunjukkan bahwa setelah peneliti melakukan tindakan, prestasi membaca siswa dalam teks deskriptif dapat meningkat sebagaimana yang ditunjukkan pada hasil tes siswa dari kedua siklus dan didukung dari data hasil observasi pada aktifitas siswa selama tindakan. Kriteria keberhasilan pada penelitian ini tergantung pada KKM sekolah yang sudah ditentukan, yaitu 75 dan penelitian ini berhasil apabila didalam kelas ada 75% siswa yang lulus pada pelajaran tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil tes pada siklus pertama ditemukan bahwa ada 16 siswa berhasil atau 40% dari 75% criteria kelulusan dan meningkat sampai 80% atau 32 siswa telah berhasil pada tes siklus kedua. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi model pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray mampu meningkatkan prestasi membaca siswa dalam teks deskriptif.


The objective of this research was to improve students’ reading achievement on descriptive text by using Two Stay Two Stray Learning Model. Related to the purpose of the research, the research method which was used in this research was class action research. The subject of the research was the students of class VII of SMP Mulawarman consist of 40 students. The action research was conducted from early May to the end of May 2016. In this research, the researcher as the observer and the teacher collaborator as a teacher taught reading by using Two Stay Two Stray Learning model. The researcher conducted two cycles of classroom action research. Based on observation the data was founded that the students’ test result has shown an increase in both of cycles. The result of the action showed that after the implementation of Two Stay Two Stray learning model, the students’ reading achievement on descriptive text could improve as shown in students’ test result in both of cycles, and the data was supported by the result of observation students’ activities. The criteria of success of this research depends on the minimum score of the school that has been determined, it was 75 and the research would be successful if there were 75% of students have reached the minimum score. Based on the test in the first cycle was found that there were 16 students who succeeded or 40% from 75% criteria of success. Then, it improved to 80% (32 students) who were successful in the second cycle test. So, it can be concluded that the implementation of Two Stay Two Stray learning model was able to improve the students’ reading achievement on descriptive text.
