Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode field trip dalam menulis deskriptif bagi siswa kelas sepuluh SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Metode penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Ada dua kelas yang diambil sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini. Kelas eksperimen diajarkan menggunakan field trip method sedangkan kelas kontrol diajarkan dengan menggunakan picture and picture method. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes tertulis. Data yang dianalisis adalah data nilai hasil pretest dan posttest dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan independent sample Ttest dengan SPSS 22.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 65.87 dan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 46.53. Tidak hanya hasil dari independent sample Ttest pada tingkat signifikansi 0.05, tetapi juga nilai Ttable dan Ttest. Nilai Ttable adalah 1.672 dan nilai Ttest adalah 7.072. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Ttest lebih tinggi dari pada nilai Ttable (7.072 > 1.672). Dengan kata lain, hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternative (Ha) diterima. Hasil analisis data membuktikan bahwa hasil pengajaran menggunakan field trip method lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan menggunakan picture and picture method. Berdasarkan hasil diatas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode field trip memberikan dampak dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas X SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan dalam menulis teks deskriptif.


The objective of this research is to know the effect of using field trip method on the students writing skill on descriptive text for tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan. The method of this research was quasi experimental. The samples were taken by using purposive sampling technique. There were two classes as the samples of this research. The experimental class was taught by using field trip method and control class was taught by using picture and pictures method. The instrument of this research was writing test. The analyzed data was from pretest and posttest of the experimental class and control class. In analyzing the data, the researcher used independent sample Ttest with SPSS 22.0. The result of the research showed that the mean score of experimental class was 65.87 and the mean score of control class was 46.53. Not only the result of the independent sample Ttest at the 0.05 level, but also the value of Ttable value was 1.672 and Ttest was 7.072. It indicates that the value of Ttest was higher than Ttable (7.072 > 1.672). In other words, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The result of the analysis data result proves that taught by using field trip method was higher than taught by using picture and picture method. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that field trip method gives an effect on improving the students writing skill on descriptive text of SMK Negeri 2 Tarakan.
