Abstract

Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII-B SMP Mulawarman Tarakan tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang terdiri dari 25 siswa. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2014. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus mulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Peneliti menggunakan lembar pengamatan untuk memperoleh data dari aktivitas guru dan siswa dikelas dan tes menulis dengan menggunakan rubrik penilaian menulis yang telah disiapkan oleh peneliti untuk mengetahui peningkatan menulis siswa. Di dalam penelitian ini, guru yang mengajar siswa kelas VIII-B di SMP Mulawarman Tarakan bertindak sebagai pengamat. Pengamat mengamati seluruh kegiatan guru dan siswa-siswi di dalam kelas.Sementara peneliti bertindak sebagai guru yang mengajarkan menulis teks recount dengan menggunakan model induktif kata bergambar. Penemuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil dari pengamatan aktivitas guru dan siswa pada siklus kedua dalam kategori baik dan model induktif kata bergambar dapat mempengaruhi antusias siswa, aktivitas, dan kepercayaan diri siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil tes menulis siswa pada siklus pertama ada 12 atau 48% dari 25 siswa mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal kemudian pada siklus kedua meningkat menjadi 17 atau 77% dari 22 siswa mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal. Jadi bisa disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount melalui model induktif kata bergambar dapat meningkat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model induktif kata bergambar efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks recount dalam proses pembelajaran.

The research method in this research was classroom action research. The subject of the research was the students of class VIII-B of SMP Mulawarman Tarakan in academic year 2014/2015 consist of 25 students. The action research was conducted from October 2014. The research was conducted in two cycles, started from planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The researcher used observation sheets, to take the data of the teacher and students’ activities in the classroom and writing test with using writing rubric was designed by Heaton (1975) based on the instructional material to know the students writing improvement. In this research, the teacher who taught the class VIII-B of SMP Mulawarman Tarakan acted as an observer. The observer observed whole of teacher and students’ activities during teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, the researcher acted as the teacher who taught writing recount text by using picture word inductive model (PWIM). The findings of this research showed that result of observation for teacher’s and students’ activities in second cycle has good category and picture word inductive model (PWIM) can stimulated the students’ enthusiasm, activities and confident during teaching and learning process. Based on the result of writing test in the first cycle there were 12 or 48% from 25 students reached the criteria of success, then it improved in the second cycle to 17 or 77% from 22 students reached the criteria of success. So, it can be concluded that the students’ achievement on writing recount text through picture word inductive model (PWIM) can be improved. Based on the finding, it can be summed up that picture word inductive model (PWIM) is effective to improve students’ writing skill and the students’ involvement in teaching and learning process.
