Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari penggunaan strategi Think Talk Write (TTW) dan model Project Based Learning (PBL) dalam meningkatkan nilai tulisan siswa dalam teks procedure. Metode penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas sebelas di SMKN 1 Tarakan. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 69 siswa. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Ada dua kelas yang diambil sebagai sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Kelas XI Office Administration 1 berjumlah 36 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen diajarkan menggunakan strategi Think Talk Write (TTW) sedangkan kelas XI Marketing 1 sebagai kelas control berjumlah 33 siswa diajarkan dengan menggunakan model Project based Learning (PBL). Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes tertulis. Tahap-tahap dalam penelitian ini adalah pretest, treatment, and posttest. Data yang dianalisis adalah data nilai hasil pretest dan posttest dari kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Peneliti menggunakan Kolmogorov Smirnov untuk menguji normalitas, One way anova untuk menguji homogenitas, dan independent sample ttest untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara kelas dengan menggunakan SPSS version 22.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa uji normalitas antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol adalah (0.142 and 0.200) pada pretest dan (0.064 and 0.088) pada posttest. Ini berarti probability value (Sig.) lebih besar daripada level of significance (>0.05). Sedangkan, hasil dari variant homogen adalah (0.113) pada pretest, (0.0491) pada posttest. Nilai significant adalah lebih besar daripada level significant. Ini berarti sampel memiliki varian yang sama. Dalam hasil skor independent sampe t-test adalah (-0.049) pada pretest lebih rendah daripada ttabel (1.996). Ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan setelah mendapatkan penerapan dari peneliti. Berdasarkan penjelasan diatas, nilai siswa memiliki peningkatan setelah diajarkan menggunakan strategi Think Talk Write (TTW). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi Think Talk Write (TTW) lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa daripada model Project-based Learning (PBL).
The objective of the research is to determine whether there is any significant difference between the students who are taught by Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy and those who are taught by using Project Based Learning (PBL) model in learning procedure text. The method of the research was quasi experimental. The population of this research were all of eleventh grade at SMKN 1 Tarakan. The number of samples in this research were 69 students. Samples were chosen by using purposive sampling. There were two classes as sample in this research were the experiment and control class. Administration Office XI 1 Class consisted 36 students as experiment class was taught by using Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy, while class XI Marketing 1 as control class consisted 33 students was taught by using Project Based Learning (PBL) model. The instrument of this research was written test. The steps of this research were pretest, treatment, and posttest. The instrument of this research was writing test. The data was taken from students’ score in pretest and posttest of experiment and control class. The researcher used Kolmogorov-smirnov to test normality, One way anova to test homogeneity and independent sample ttest to know the differences between both of the class by using SPSS version 22.0. The research results shows that normality test between experiment and control class value were (0.142 and 0.200) in pretest and (0.064 and 0.088) in posttest. It illustrated that the probability value (Sig.) was higher than the level of significance (>0.05). Therefore, the result of homogeneity of variance were (0.113) in pretest, (0.491) in posttest. The significance value was higher than the level of significance. It indicates that the sample has homogeneous variants. In Independent sample t-test result were (-0.049) in pretest was lower than Ttable (1.996) it can be concluded that there was improvement after got the treatment that given by the researcher. Based on the explanation above, the students’ score was increased after taught by using Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy. It can be concluded that Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy is more effective to increase students’ writing ability than Project-based Learning (PBL) model.
