Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru bahasa inggris dalam melaksanakan persiapan pengajaran di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Tarakan. Desain penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah guru bahasa Inggris SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Tarakan. Instrument yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah wawancara dan analisis dokumen. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan model analisis dari Miles dan Huberman, yaitu (1) Data Reduksi, (2) Data Display, dan (3) Kesimpulan. Berdasarakan data penelitian, ada banyak masalah yang dihadapi oeh guru bahasa Inggris dalam melaksanakan persiapan pengajaran. Ditambah lagi, ditemukan bahwa (1 analsisa wawancara, guru bahasa Inggris di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Tarakan tidak memilki masalah yang signifikan dalan membuat silabus. Hal tersebut dikarenakan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris menggunakan silabus dari guru sebelunya, sehingga guru tersebut hanya merevisi beberapa kompnen saja dalam silabus tersebut. Dalam pembuatan dan mendesain RPP, guru bahasa inggris memiliki banyak masalah dalam melakukan persiapan pengajara di SMP Muhammadiya 1 Tarakan. Oleh karena itu, persiapan tertulis yang dibuat oleh guru tersebut tidak cukup bagus

This research aimed at describing the problems faced by English language teacher in conducting teaching preparation at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Tarakan. Research design of this research was descriptive qualitative. This research subject was the English language teachers at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Tarakan. The research instruments used in collecting the data were interview and document analysis. In analysing data; the researcher used a flow model analysis from Miles and Huberman, namely: (1) Data Reduction, (2) Data Display, and (3) Conclusion Drawing. Based on the research data, there were many problems faced by the English teacher in conducting the teaching preparation. In addition, it was found that (1) Interview analysis, English teacher in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Tarakan did not have any significant problem in making syllabus. It was caused English teacher got syllabus from the previous teacher so the teacher only revised some components in the syllabus. In making and designing lesson plan, the teacher has problem in determining learning method, and (2) Document analysis, English teacher has many problems in conducting teaching preparation at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Tarakan. Therefore, the written preparation that was made by the teacher was not good enough.
