Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berupa poster untuk siswa kelas VII di SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian pengembangan. Tahapan pemgembangan meliputi analisis kebutuhan, pengembangan poster menggunakan model Branch yang bernama ADDIE yang dimodifikasi berdasarkan kebutuhan peneliti yaitu mencakup analisis, desain, pengembangan, evaluasi (revisi), dan uji coba produk. Untuk mengumpulkan informasi yang dibutuhkan dalam perancangan produk ini, sebanyak 113 siswa kelas VII di SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan diminta untuk menjawab sepuluh pertanyaan yang terdapat dalam kuesioner. Guru bahasa Inggris kelas VII diwawancarai dengan tujuan yang sama. Hasil rata-rata dari validasi ahli yaitu baik, ini mengindikasikan poster yang telah dikembangkan oleh peneliti sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan kesukaan siswa. Meskipun demikian, ada beberapa bagian yang perlu direvisi, ini dilakukan untuk membuat desain dan isi poster semakin baik. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebuah media pembelajaran poster yang berisikan materi tentang simple present tense yang didesain khusus untuk siswa kelas VII di SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan dengan cakupan isi: (1) judul poster, (2) pengertian simple present tense, (3) Rumus simple present tense beserta contoh, (4) catatan dalam penambahan s/es, (5) aturan penggunaan adverb of frequency (6) learning activities dan (7) recommended assessment. Produk yang telah dikembangkan diharapkan dapat membantu siswa kelas VII di SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan dalam memahami materi simple present tense dan juga sebagai sebuah media pembelajaran yang mudah dan dapat memotivasi siswa untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris. Produk ini juga diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi penting bagi guru dalam penyampaian materi simple present tense.
The study was conducted to propose poster as learning media for seventh grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan. This research employed Research and Development (R&D) design. The procedures of this Research and Development (R&D) were need analysis, product development applied Branch model, namely ADDIE which is modified based on the researcher’s need, they were analyze, design, develop, evaluation (revision) and implement (tryout). To obtain the information needed as a base for designing the product, 113 students of seventh grade at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan were asked to answer ten questions in questionnaire. English Teacher was also interviewed with the same purposes. The average result from experts was in good category, it indicate that the product of poster development that had developed appropriate with the students’ needs and preferences. Nevertheless, there were some parts in poster need to revise. It was done to improve the design and content of poster better. The result of this research and development was learning media of poster contained simple present tense material for the seventh grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan. The product of poster contained: (1) the title, (2) the definition of simple present tense, (3) the formulas of simple present tense in verbal and nominal sentences, (4) the rules in putting s/es, (5) the rules in using adverb of frequency, (6) learning activities and (7) recommended assessment. The product also expected could help the seventh grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Tarakan in understanding the simple present tense material and also as an easy learning media that could be motivated them in learning English. This product also hopefully could give significant contribution for the teacher in delivering simple present tense material.
