Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada masalah-maslah yang dihadapi oleh guru bahasa Inggris dalam mengajar menulis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan masalah-maslah yang dihadapi oleh guru bahasa Inggris dalam mengajar menulis dari persiapan mengajar, proses mengajar, dan evaluasi mengajar. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan anggapan bahwa terdapat beberapa masalah dalam mengajar menulis pada guru bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas tujuh di SMPIT Ulul Albab Tarakan. Rancangan deskriptif digunakan dalam penelitian ini, data dikumpulkan melalui lembar field note, kuisioner, analisis dokumen, dan pedoman interview untuk mendapatkan data yang saling terkait. Data dari empat instrumen ini dianalisis secara kualitatif. Data dari lembar observasi telah berbentuk field note, data dari kuisioner diperoleh dari siswa, data dari analisis dokumen berbentuk silabus dan rencana pembelajaran (RPP), dan data dari pedoman interview berbentuk interview untuk guru. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat beberapa masalah dalam mengajar menulis dari persiapan mengajar, proses mengajar, dan evaluasi mengajar. Dari persiapan mengajar, guru tidak mempersiapkan silabus dalam satu semester serta komponen rencana pembelajarannya yang tidak lengkap. Proses mengajar sudah baik walaupun terdapat beberapa kekurangan dari guru tersebut. Terakhir adalah evaluasi mengajar sudah cukup baik walaupun dari dua puluh siswa terdapat tiga siswa yang tidak mencapai standar minimal penilaian (KKM).

This study focused on the English teacher problems faced in teaching writing. The study was aimed at describing the problems faced by the English teacher in teaching writing from the teaching preparation, teaching process, and teaching evaluation. This study was conducted based on the consideration there were some problems in teaching writing for the English teacher in seventh grades students of SMPIT Ulul Albab Tarakan. A descriptive design was used in this study, and the data were collected through field note, questionnaire, document analysis, and interview guide to gain relevant data. The data from these four instruments were analyzed qualitatively. The data from the observation was in field note, the data questionnaire was from the students, the data of document analysis was syllabus and lesson plan, and the data of interview guide was from for the teacher. The result of this study showed that there were some problems in teaching writing from the teaching preparation, teaching process, and teaching evaluation. From the teaching preparation, the teacher did not ready in prepare the syllabus in one semester and the components lesson plan was not completed. The teaching process was good even there were some lacks from the teacher. The last is teaching evaluation was good enough even from the twenty students there was three students did not reached the standard minimum of scoring (KKM).
