Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kesalahan morfologi dalam abstrak skripsi mahasiswa lulusan jurusan Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar Universitas Borneo Tarakan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang dilakukan pada 36 abstrak skripsi. Untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan morfologi, sampel berupa abstrak skripsi dikumpulkan dan diidentifikasi menggunakan linguistic category taxonomy. Kemudian, terdapat tujuh belas kategori yang ditemukan dalam abstrak-abstrak tersebut yaitu adjective, adverb, subject-verb agreement, demonstrative adjective, gerund, faulty parallelism, infinitive, modal auxiliary, noun, ordinal number, passive voice, singular noun, plural noun, verb, verb form, wrong word form dan verb tense. kesalahan-kesalahan tersebut dianalisis ulang dan diklasifikasikan lagi berdasarkan sumber kesalahannya yakni interlanguage dan intralingual. Sebagai tambahan, penelitian ini memberikan informasi yang berguna tentang macam-macam kesalahan morfologi yang biasanya ditemukan dalam penulisan abstrak. Hasil penelitian ini dapat berguna bagi dosen untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tentang morfologi bagi mahasiswa untuk digunakan dalam menulis abstrak penelitian maupun tulisan-tulisan ilmiah lainnya. Diharapkan pula penelitian ini dapat memberi gambaran berharga bagi kesadaran mahasiswa pada jenis kesalahan seperti ini.

This research was conducted to analyze the morphological errors on the thesis abstracts made by graduated students of Elementary School Teachers Department of Borneo University of Tarakan. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. It was conducted on 36 thesis abstracts. To identify the morphological errors, the samples of thesis abstracts were collected and were identified by using linguistic category taxonomy. Subsequently, there were seventeen categories of errors found within the abstracts which were adjective, adverb, subject-verb agreement, demonstrative adjective, gerund, faulty parallelism, infinitive, modal auxiliary, noun, ordinal number, passive voice, singular noun, plural noun, verb, verb form, wrong word form and verb tense. Those errors were re-analyzed and re-classified based on their sources of errors which were interlanguage and intralingual. In addition, this research provides useful information on the various morphological errors which are commonly found in abstract writing. The results of this research may be useful for lecturers to improve the students’ morphological understanding to be used in writing research abstract or any other academic writing. Hopefully, it can give valuable overview to gain the students’ awareness on this kind of error.
