Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan youtube video dalam pengajaran menulis teks prosedur pada siswa kelas sepuluh di SMAN 1 Sebatik Tengah tahun akademik 2016/2017. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre eksperimental. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas sepuluh di SMAN 1 Sebatik Tengah. Jumlah populasi dari penelitian ini adalah 134 siswa. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah kelas X-B yang terdiri dari 33 siswa. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Tahap-tahap dalam penelitian ini adalah pre-test, treatment, dan post-test. Pada tahap pre-test, siswa diminta untuk menulis teks prosedur berdasarkan topik-topik yang diberikan. Setelah pre-test, peneliti memberikan treatment. Kelas eksperimen diajar dengan menggunakan youtube video. Setelah diberikan treatment, siswa diminta untuk menulis teks prosedur pada tahap post-test. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nilai rata-rata antara pre-test dan post-test. Ini dibuktikan melalui hasil nilai rata-rata siswa dalam pre-test adalah 55.85 dan hasil post-test adalah 77.06. Ini menunjukan adanya peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa sebesar 21.21. Dari hasil perhitungan menggunakan paired samples T-test dapat diketahui bahwa nilai sig.2 tailed lebih kecil dibandingkan level of significant (0.000 < 0.05). Itu mengindikasikan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak. Dengan demikian terdapat pengaruh signifikan dari penggunaan youtube video dalam pengajaran menulis teks prosedur. Paired samples T-test telah dianalisis menggunakan SPSS version 22.0. Secara keseluruhan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa youtube video efektif dalam pengajaran menulis teks prosedur pada siswa kelas sepuluh di SMAN 1 Sebatik Tengah tahun akademik 2016/2017.

The objective of this research was to find out the significant effect of using youtube video in teaching writing of procedure text at tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Sebatik Tengah in academic year 2016/2017. This research used pre experimental design. The population of this research were all of the tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Sebatik Tengah. The total of population were 134 students. The sample of this research was X-B class that consisted of 33 students. The sample was chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The steps in this research were pre-test, treatment and post-test. In the pre-test, the students were asked to write a procedure text based on the topics given. After giving pre-test, the researcher gave the treatment. This class was taught by using youtube video. After giving the treatment, students were asked to write a procedure text in the post-test. The result of this research shows that there was different mean score between pre-test and post-test. It was proven by the result of the students’ mean score in pre-test was 55.85 and in post-test was 77.06. It shows that the improvement of the students’ mean score in experimental class was 21.21. From the result of computation using paired samples T-test shows that sig. (2 tailed) is lower than level of significant (0.000 < 0.05). It indicates that the alternative hypothesis ( ) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Thus, there is a significant effect of using youtube video in teaching writing of procedure text. The Paired samples t-test was analyzed by using SPSS version 22.0. Overall, it can be concluded that youtube video is effective in teaching writing of procedure text at tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Sebatik Tengah in academic year 2016/2017.
