Penelitan ini merupakan penelitan deskriptif kualitatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan dominan errors dan penyebab errors dibuat oleh siswa-siswi kelas VIII-F SMPN 2 Tarakan di tulisan kegiatan sehari-hari. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi kelas VIII-F SMPN 2 Tarakan yang ditugaskan untuk menulis kegiatan sehari-hari. Didalam teks kegiatan sehari-hari terdapat tujuan dari penulisan teks sebagai judul, perkenalan, dan deskripsi . Alokasi waktu menulis bagi para siswa adalah 80 menit. Dari tulisan para siswa yang telah diperoleh, dibedakan semua kalimat siswa , ada tiga tingkatan kriteria dari kalimat yang dianalisis, kalimat diklasifikasikan kedalam jenis-jenis errors, menghitung jumlah persentase untuk mengetahui dominan errors yang paling banyak dilakukan oleh siswa-siswi SMPN 2 Tarakan, Penyebab errors yang dibuat oleh siswa-siswi kelas VIII-F SMPN 2 Tarakan. Jenis kesalahan yang dibuat oleh siswa-siswi kelas VIII-F SMPN 2 Tarakan adalah kesalahan omission, kesalahan addition, kesalahan misformation, dan kesalahan misordering Kesalahan omission terdapat pada kata yang hilang, artikel, kata depan, dan tanda baca. Kesalahan addition terdapat pada kata yang tidak diperlukan. Kesalahan misformation terdapat pada bagian huruf kapital, ejaan, kata yang salah, persetujuan subjek dan kata kerja. Kesalahan misordering terdapat pada bagian tanda paragraf baru dan kata penghubung. Penyebab error dari hasil wawancara kepada siswa-siswi dalam menggunakan simple present tense adalah kesalahan errors encourages by teaching material or method and over-generalization. Jenis kesalahan yang paling banyak adalah misformation errors (57.66%)

This is a descriptive qualitative research. The objectives of this research were to find out the dominant errors and the causes of error made by the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Tarakan. They were assigned to write daily activities. The subject of this research were the students from class VIII-F of SMPN 2 Tarakan. They were to assigned to write daily activities. Daily activities text consists of goal of the writing as the title, introduction, description. The time allocation for the students to write was 80 minutes. Based on the students’ writings, the sentence were differentiated all of the students’ writing sentences on their daily activities, there is three stages from the sentcences has been analyzed, the sentences was also classified into kinds of errors and counted the percentage frequency to know the kind of error that was mostly and causes of errors by VIII-F students of SMPN 2 Tarakan. The kinds of errors made by VIII-F students of SMPN 2 Tarakan were omission errors, addition errors, misformation errors, and misordering errors. Omission errors occurred in the missing word, article, preposition, and punctuation. Addition errors occurred in the unnecessary word. Misformation errors occurred in the capitalization, spelling, wrong word, subject-verb agreement, and wrong form. Misordering errors occurred in the start a new paragraph, and connect to make one sentence. The possible causes error were made in interview the students in using simple present tense were errors encourages by teaching material or method and over-generalization.The kind of error mostly made was wrong misformation errors (57.66%)
