Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki aplikasi Cake terhadap keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas delapan di SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra-eksperimental dengan satu kelas pra-tes dan paskah-tes dengan empat kali pertemuan yang melibatkan 18 siswa. Penilaian keterampilan berbicara difokuskan pada 5 aspek yaitu, tata bahasa, kosa kata, kelancaran, pengucapan,dan pemahaman. Teks deskriptif yang digunakan sebagai dasar untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan berbicara siswa difokuskan pada tema hari kemerdekaan. Hasil analisis statistik menggunakan paired sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar p = 0,000 (p < 0,05), yang mengindikasikan penggunaan aplikasi Cake memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa dan alat pembelajaran yang efektif dan menarik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris lisan.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Cake application on the speaking skill of eighth grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School Tarakan. This study employed a pre-experimental design with one class pre-test and post-test with four meetings involving 18 students. The assessment of speaking skill was focused on 5 aspects; grammar, vocabulary, fluency, pronunciation, and comprehension. The descriptive text used for evaluating students’ speaking skill which focused on the theme of Independence Day. The result of statistical analysis through paired sample t-test showed significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which indicated that the use of the Cake application had a positive effect on students’ speaking skill and it was an effective and interesting learning tool to improve spoken English skill.
