Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh model Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2015/2016 di SMP Frater Don Bosco Tarakan.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental research dengan desain posttest only control design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Frater Don Bosco Tarakan sebanyak 52 orang. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan teknik sampling jenuh di mana semua populasi dijadikan sampel yakni kelas VIII-1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII-2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes yang berbentuk uraian. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji statistik independent sample t-test dengan bantuan software SPSS versi 22.0 for windows.
Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika kelas eksperimen adalah 62,81 dan rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika kelas kontrol adalah 52,23. Sedangkan berdasarkan hasil analisis uji independent sample t-test dengan taraf signifikan 5% (a = 0,05) menunjukkan p-value sebesar 0,034 dan t hitung lebih besar dari t tabel yaitu sebesar 1,867 > 1,6759. Dengan demikian H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Frater Don Bosco Tarakan.

This research aimed to know the effect of MMP model towards students mathematical problem solving ability. This research was conducted on the even semester in academic year 2015/2016 of SMP Frater Don Bosco Tarakan. The type of this research is quasi-experiment research. The population of this research was all the students at grade VIII of SMP Frater Don Bosco Tarakan which consisted of 52 students. The sample was taken by using saturated sampling technique where all member of population was used as a sample that was class VIII-1 was as the experimental group and class VIII-2 was as the control group. The technique used in collecting data was a test in essay form. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistic and inferential statistic with independent sample t-test helped by SPSS software 22.0 version for window. The result of descriptive analysis showed that the mean score of mathematical problem solving ability of experimental group was 62,81 and control group was 52,23. While based on the independent sample t-test result with significance level value 5% (a = 0,05) showed that p-value was 0,034 and t count was higher than t table (1,867 > 1,6759). Thus, H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, therefore it can be concluded that MMP models is effective towards mathematical problem solving ability of grade VIII students of SMP Frater Don Bosco Tarakan.
