Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui deskripsi kategori kecemasan dan tingkat kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa; pengaruh kecemasan matematika terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan.
Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survey. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 178 siswa yang terdiri dari 5 kelas yang diambil dengan teknik cluster sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dengan menyebarkan kuesioner dan memberikan tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan regresi linier sederhana.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan matematika yang paling dominan terdapat pada kategori sedang sebesar 50,6%. Tingkat kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa berada pada kategori kurang sebesar 40,45%. Hasil analisis statistika inferensial menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh kecemasan matematika terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika dengan nilai signifikan 0,000 dan terdapat pengaruh kecemasan matematika terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan Ŷ = 88,790 - 0,393 X. sebesar 15,1%, dengan persamaan regresi.

The aims of this research is to find out: Describe category of mathematic anxiety; describe category of the understanding of mathematic concept ability; the effect mathematic anxiety of the understanding of mathematic concept ability in class VII SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan. This research was a quantitative research by using survey method. The sample of this research were 178 students, from consisted from 5 classes, chosen by cluster sampling technique. Data collection technique in this research were giving questionnaire and giving the understanding of mathematic concept ability test. The data were analized descriptive statistic and simple linier regression. The result of this research showed that the dominant category of mathematic anxiety was on fair category which had 50,6%. The level of the understanding of mathematic concept ability was on poor category which 40,45%. Analysis of statistic inferensial showed that there was effect math anxiety and the understanding of mathematic concept ability with sig. 0,000 and there is the effects of mathematic anxiety to the understanding of mathematic concept ability of class VII SMP Negeri 3 Tarakan.
