
THE EFFECT OF USING QUESTION-ANSWER RELATIONSHIP (QAR) STRATEGY IN TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION FOR EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS AT MTS HURRASUL AQIDAH TARAKAN

Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana Question Answer Relationship (QAR) Strategy dapat membantu students in Reading Comprehension. Dengan desain one group pre-test and post-test, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan pre- eksperimental dan mengumpulkan data berdasarkan tes. Sampel penelitian adalah 30 siswa kelas delapan MTs Hurrasul Aqidah Tarakan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan Question Answer Relationship (QAR) Strategy selama mengajar sangat meningkatkan reading Comprehension siswa kelas delapan . Nilai rata-rata pre-test untuk students adalah 63,07, dan post-test adalah 77,47, sehingga nilai signifikan dari uji sampel berpasangan adalah 0,000 < 0,005, yang lebih kecil dari tingkat signifikan, dan nilai t (9.567) lebih tinggi. dari t tabel (1,699). dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan Question Answer Relationship (QAR) Strategy dalam mengajarkan reading comprehension siswa kelas delapan sangat efektif. Selain itu, siswa juga lebih tertarik dan antusias dalam belajar dengan menggunakan Question Answer Relationship sebagai strategi pembelajaran.

The aim of this study is to investigate how the Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy can assist students in improving their reading comprehension. Using a one-group pre-test and post-test design, the researcher employed a pre-experimental approach and collected data based on tests. The sample consisted of 30 eighth-grade students from MTs Hurrasul Aqidah Tarakan, selected through purposive sampling. The findings revealed that the use of the QAR strategy during instruction significantly improved the reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students. The average pre-test score was 58.93, while the post-test score was 82.27. The significant result from the paired sample t-test was 0.000 < 0.05, which is smaller than the significance level, and the t-value (11.441) was higher than the t-table value (1.699). It can be concluded that the implementation of the QAR strategy in teaching reading comprehension is highly effective. Additionally, students showed increased interest and enthusiasm in learning when the QAR strategy was used. Keyword: Question Answer Relationship, Teaching, Reading Comprehension
