Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pencapaian penguasaan kosakata dan kemampuan tata bahasa siswa antara Kurikulum 2013 dan Kurikulum Merdeka pada siswa kelas XI di SMAN 1 Malinau dan SMAN 3 Malinau tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi komparatif kausal dengan sampel 31 siswa kelas XI di SMAN 1 Malinau dan 31 siswa kelas XI di SMAN 3 Malinau, dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan TOEIC sebagai instrumen tes kosakata dan tata bahasa. Data penelitian ini tidak terdistribusi secara normal. Oleh karena itu, peneliti melakukan analisis lebih lanjut dengan menggunakan Mann-Whitney U Test. Peneliti menggunakan program SPSS versi 24.0 untuk menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara siswa di SMAN 1 Malinau yang menggunakan Kurikulum 2013 dan siswa di SMAN 3 Malinau yang menggunakan Kurikulum Merdeka dalam hal Penguasaan Kosakata dan Kemampuan Tata Bahasa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata total siswa dari Vocabulary Mastery Siswa dari SMAN 1 Malinau mencapai nilai rata-rata 69,55, sedangkan siswa dari SMAN 3 Malinau memiliki nilai rata-rata 45,61. Dan untuk tes Grammar Ability di SMAN 1 Malinau memiliki nilai rata-rata yang lebih tinggi (76,39) dibandingkan dengan siswa SMAN 3 Malinau (43,35). Selain itu, berdasarkan hasil uji Mann-Whityney, Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan tata bahasa pada siswa di SMAN 1 Nunukan dan SMAN 2 Nunukan yang menerapkan kurikulum yang berbeda, yaitu Kurikulum Merdeka dan Kurikulum 2013, dengan nilai p sebesar 0,000. Berdasarkan fakta di atas menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum 2013 lebih baik daripada Kurikulum Merdeka. Dari hasil penelitian, peneliti menemukan bahwa perbedaan tersebut terletak pada perbedaan metode dan media yang digunakan antara kedua sekolah tersebut.

This study aimed to determine the differences in vocabulary mastery and grammar ability between eleventh-grade students taught under the 2013 Curriculum at SMAN 1 Malinau and those taught under the Merdeka Curriculum at SMAN 3 Malinau during the 2023/2024 academic year. A causal-comparative research design was used, with 31 students from each school selected through purposive sampling. The TOEIC test was employed as the instrument to assess both vocabulary mastery and grammar ability. Since the data were not normally distributed, further analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney U Test, with data processed using SPSS version 24.0. The findings revealed a significant difference in both vocabulary mastery and grammar ability between students from the two schools. Students at SMAN 1 Malinau, who followed the 2013 Curriculum, outperformed their peers at SMAN 3 Malinau, who were taught using the Merdeka Curriculum. Specifically, the mean score for vocabulary mastery was 69.55 for SMAN 1 Malinau students, compared to 45.61 for SMAN 3 Malinau students. Similarly, the grammar ability test results showed a mean score of 76.39 for SMAN 1 Malinau students, whereas SMAN 3 Malinau students averaged 43.35. The Mann-Whitney test confirmed these differences, with a p-value of 0.0.00. These results indicated that the 2013 Curriculum yielded better outcomes in vocabulary and grammar attainment than the Merdeka Curriculum. The differences observed in this study can be attributed to variations in teaching methods and instructional media used in the two schools.
