Abstract

Transitivitas adalah bagian dari Linguistik Fungsional Sistemik (LFS) yang terdiri dari tiga elemen yaitu proses, partisipan dan keadaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis jenis transitivitas yang digunakan dalam buku autobiografi Malala dan untuk mencari tahu proses transitivitas yang paling dominan yang terdapat di buku tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif sebagai rancangan penelitian dan mengambil 2 sub bagian sebanyak 12 halaman dari buku autobiografi sebagai representatif dari keseluruhan buku. Sub bagian tersebut berjudul The Day My World Change dan The Girl Who Shot in the Head Birmingham pada halaman 92 hingga halaman 103. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 6 proses transitivitas yang ditemukan pada buku autobiografi, yaitu Materi, Relasional, Mental, Verbal, Tingkah laku dan Wujud. Untuk partisipan, ada 16 jenis fungsi partisipan yaitu Aktor, Sasaran, Penerima, Klien, Pengindera, Fenomenon, Penyandang, Atribut, Tanda, Nilai, Petingkah Laku, Tingkah Laku, Pembicara, Penerima, Pembicaraan dan Maujud. Dalam elemen keadaan terdapat Jangkauan, Lokasi, Cara, Penyebab, Pendampingan, Materi, Peran dan Konjungsi. Proses yang paling dominan adalah Proses material yang terjadi 429 kali (40,21%), yang secara otomatis membuat
Aktor dan Sasaran memiliki persentase tertinggi daripada partisipan yang lain dalam fungsi partisipan. Lokasi ditemukan sebagai keadaan yang paling dominan dalam elemen keadaan dengan 268 atau 43,64%. Selain itu, ditemukan beberapa kesalahan baik dari segi penggunaan tata bahasa, pemilihan kata, maupun tanda baca di dalam buku autobiografi. Namun secara keseluruhan, buku autobiografi Malala sudah sesuai dengan genre teks autobiografi yang semestinya.

Transitivity is part of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) which consists of three elements, processes, participants and circumstances. The objectives of this study were to analyze the types of transitivity that used in Malala’s autobiography book and to find out the most dominant process transitivity on it. This study employed descriptive qualitative as the research design and took 2 subparts with 12 pages as representative from entire autobiography book. The titles of both subparts were The Day My World Change and The Girl Who Shot in the Head Birmingham on pages 92 until 103. The result of the study shows that there were 6 transitivity processes found on the autobiography book, there were Material, Relational, Mental, Verbal, Behavioral and Existential. While for the participants, there were 16 types of participant functions, they were Actor, Goal, Recipient, Client, Senser, Phenomenon, Carrier, Attribute, Identified, Identifier, Behaver, Behavior, Sayer, Receiver, Verbiage, and Existent. In circumstantial elements there were Extent, Location, Manner, Cause, Accompaniment, Matter, Role and Conjunction. The most dominant process was Material process that occurs 429 times (40.21%), which automatically made Actor and Goal had the highest percentage rather than others in participant functions. Besides that, location was found be the most dominant circumstance in circumstantial elements with 268 or 43.64%. In addition, there were found several errors in terms of the used of grammar, word choices, as well as punctuation in the autobiography book. But overall, Malala's autobiography book was already appropriate with the genre of autobiography texts.
