Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan minat baca siswa dengan adanya gerakan literasi sekolah di SMP Negri 5 Tarakan dan bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor pendukung dan penghamabat Gerakan literasi sekolah. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah gur, keapala sekolah dan seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan sebanyak 270 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu, observasi, wawancara, dokumnetasi dan kuesioner. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan tiga tahap yaitu, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa minat baca dengan gerakan literasi sekolah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan berkategori rendah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa minat baca dengan gerakan literasi sekolah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan berkategori rendah. Hal ini terdapat lima kelas yang berkategorikan rendah yaitu, kelas C dengan presentase 94% dan frekuensi 29, kelas D dengan presentase 84% dan frekuensi 26, kelas E dengan presentase 69% dan frekuensi 20, kelas F dengan presentase 66% dan frekuensi 21, dan kelas H dengan presentase 76% dan frekuensi 22. Sedangkan terdapat empat kelas yang berkategori tinggi yaitu, kelas A dengan presentase 90% dan frekuensi 28, kelas B dengan presentase 93% dan frekuensi 26, kelas G dengan presentase 75% dan frekuensi 21, dan kelas I dengan presentase 87% dan frekuensi 26. Terdapat beberapa faktor penghambat dan faktor pendukung. Faktor penghambat rendahnya minat baca siswa, ruangan perpustakaan yang kurang terorganisir dan dan juga fasilitas sekolah yang kurang memadai. Sedangkan faktor pendukung memberikan motivasi kepada siswa dan menanamkan gemar membaca pada siswa dan adanya kegiatan pentas seni. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa minat baca dengan gerakan literasi kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan masih terbilang rendah.

The purpose of this study were to describe students reading interest in the presence of the school literacy movement at SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan and to determine the supporting and inhibiting factors of the school literacy movement. The research method employed was qualitative descriptive methods The samples in this study were teachers, school principals and all 270 students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaires.
