Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menemukan dan mendeskripsikan cara siswa Kelas XI SMA Muhammadiyah Boarding School Tarakan melatih Locus Of Control dalam belajar matematika. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI sebanyak lima orang yang berinisial A, B, C, D dan E dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumentasi data yang di peroleh dalam catatan lapangan kemudian dianalisis dengan alur reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Adapun temuan penelitian ini sedikitnya ada tiga siswa dari dua kelas XI SMA Muhammadiyah Boarding School Tarakan sudah memiliki Locus Of Control Internal dan Locus Of Control eksternal yang baik. Ketiga subjek tersebut memliki karakteristik, Subjek A merupakan anak laki-laki yang pendiam, Subjek B merupakan anak laki-laki yang lincah dan pandai bersosialisasi dan Subjek C merupakan anak perempuan yang pendiam. Temuan dari penelitian ini, yaitu ketiga siswa tersebut melatih Locus Of Control internal dan Locus Of Control eksternal dalam belajar matematika dengan cara: 1) Aspek kemampuan: mengerjakan tugas dan ujian dengan mandiri, bekerja keras dalam belajar, memiliki kemauan dan ketekunan dalam belajar matematika; 2) Aspek minat: tidak mudah terpengaruh orang lain, memiliki semangat dan kepercayaan diri; 3) Aspek usaha: tidak mudah menyerah saat gagal, selalu bertanya ketika tidak tahu dan banyak latihan soal; 4) Aspek nasib: tidak menyalahkan orang lain saat gagal, tidak mudah khawatir; 5) Aspek keberuntungan: berusaha dengan sendiri.; 6) Aspek sosial ekonomi: berbagi pengetahuan matematika dengan tutor sebaya; dan 7) Aspek pengaruh orang lain: tidak bergantung dan berharap pada orang lain.

This study aimed to describe the way the eleventh grade students of Muhammadiyah Boarding School Tarakan trained their Locus Of Control in learning mathematics. This was a case study with a qualitative approach. Using purposive sampling, five students in class XI whose initials A, B, C, D, and E were taken as the research subjects. wData were collected through observation, interview. Data documentation was obtained in the field notes and then analyzed by data reduction flow, data presentation, and drawing conclusion. The research findings showed that at least three students had good internal and external locus of control. Characteristically, subject A was a quiet boy and not very talkative. Subject B was an agile boy and good at socializing. Subject C was a quiet girl who did not talk much. It was found that the three students trained their internal and external locus of control in learning mathematics in several ways. For aspects of ability: did assignments and examinations independently; worked hard in learning; had the will and perseverance in learning mathematics. For aspect of interest: not easily influenced by others; had passion and confidence. For business aspect: did not give up easily when failed; always asked questions and practiced a lot. For aspect of fate: did not blame others when they failed; did not worry. For aspect of luck: tried by themselves. For socioeconomic aspect: shared mathematical knowledge with peer tutors.
