
Empowering The Eighth Grade Students’ Reading Comprehension Through Reciprocal Teaching Technique At SMPN 3 Tarakan

Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa kelas 8 SMPN 3 Tarakan dengan menggunakan teknik pembelajaran Reciprocal. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian Tindakan kelas terdiri 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian Tindakan kelas ini adalah siswa kelas 8.1 SMPN 3 Tarakan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu lembar pengamatan dan tes tertulis. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dilihat pada nilai yang diperoleh siswa kelas 8.1 dalam penerapan teknik mengajar reciprocal. Pada siklus I siswa yang mencapai standar keberhasilan belajar sebanyak 68%, sebanyak 21 siswa yang mendapat nilai 70 ke bawah dengan kategori kurang dan sebanyak 10 siswa memperoleh nilai di atas 70. Pada siklus II siswa yang memperoleh nilai 70 ke atas sebanyak 27 orang dengan kategori sangat baik dengan presentase 80% dan sebanyak 4 orang memperoleh nilai dibawah 70. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan teknik pembelajaran reciprocal dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa kelas VIII-1 SMPN 3 Tarakan.

This research aimed to improve the reading comprehension of grade 8 students of SMPN 3 Tarakan by using reciprocal teaching techniques. The type of research was classroom action research. Classroom Action Research consists of 4 stages namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The subject of this class action research was a grade 8.1 student of SMPN 3 Tarakan. The research instruments used observation sheets and tests. The results of this study can be seen in the scores obtained by grade 8.1 students in the application of reciprocal teaching techniques. In the first cycle of students who achieved a learning success standard of 68%, as many as 21 students scored 70 and below with less categories and as many as 10 students scored above 70. In cycle II students who obtained scores of 70 and above as many as 27 people in the very good category with a percentage of 80% and as many as 4 people obtained scores below 70. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the use of reciprocal teaching technique can improve the reading comprehension of grade VIII-1 students of SMPN 3 Tarakan.
