Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Kebiasaan membaca dan pemahaman membaca siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAK Frater Don. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian korelasi yang menerapkan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik Total Sampling. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 64 siswa. Sampel kelasnya adalah kelas XI-IPA, XI-IPS A dan XI IPS B. Data diambil dari kuisioner dan test pemahaman membaca. Bentuk kuisioner adalah pernyataan mengenai kebiasaan membaca siswa dan tes pilihan ganda untuk menilai pemahaman membaca siswa. Hasil dari uji normalitas, homogenitas dan linieritas dalam penelitian ini lebih tinggi dari level of significance (>0.05). Ini berarti bahwa hasil kuisioner dan nilai kemampuan berbicara siswa pada kelas VIII A terdistribusi secara normal, homogen dan linier. Selain itu, dari hasil perhitungan tes korelasi menunjukkan nilai R-test dan R-table. Nilai R-test adalah 0.547dan nilai R-table adalah 0.244. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai R-test lebih tinggi dari pada nilai R-table (0.547 > 0.244). Hal tersebut menandakan ada hubungan yang signifikan antara kebiasaan membaca siswa terhadap pemahaan membaca siswa di dalam penelitian ini. Sehingga dapat diasumsikan bahwa hipotesis alternative (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak.

The objective of this research was to find out the correlation between Reading habits and Reading comprehension of Eleventh grader students of SMAK Frater Don Bosco. This research used correlation research design which applied quantitative approach. The samples were chosen by using total sampling technique. The numbers of the sample in this research were 64 students of XI-IPA, XI-IPS A and XI-IPS B. The data were taken from questionnaire and reading test as the instrument of this research. The questionnaire form was the statements related to reading habit and reading test is to measure the students reading comprehension. The result of normality test, homogeneity of variance and linearity test in this research were higher than the level of significance (>0.05). It means that questionnaire result and reading test result at XI-IPA, XI-IPS A and XI-IPS B classes were normally distributed, homogeneous and linear. Moreover, from the result of computation of correlation test showed the value of R-test and R-table. R-test value was 0.547and R-table was 0.244. It indicates that the value of R-test was higher than the value of R-table (0.547 > 0.244). It means that there is significant correlation between reading habit and reading comprehension in this research. It can be assumed that alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.
