Abstract

Chili is a horticultural crop widely grown by farmers in Tarakan City because it has high economic value. However, there is a problem in its cultivation, such as the existence of weeds growing around it. The presence of weeds in cultivated land can cause losses and loss of crops. Weeds that are commonly found in Tarakan City are weeds (Eleusine indica). One activity control that can be done is by utilizing weeds (Cyperus compressus) and (Eleusine indica) as bio-herbicides. The goal is to reduce the growth of Eleusine indica weeds on chili cultivation land. The study used a randomized block design with 1 factor with 11 treatments and repeated 3 times, Treatment PO (negative control (chili+ weeds)), P1 (positive control (chili plants without weeds)), P2 (25% C. compressus extract), P3 (25% E. indica extract), P4 (50% C. compressus extract), P5 (50% E. indica extract), P6 (75% C. compressus extract), P7 (75% E. indica extract), P8 (100% C. compressus extract), P9 (100% E. indica extract), P10 (basmilang herbicide 10 ml per liter). The parameters of observation were weed height, the number of weed leaves, fresh and dry weight of decay and weed roots, weed damage, the height of chili plants, the number of leaves of chili, fresh and dry weight of shoots, and roots of chili plants. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, if there were significantly different data then it would be followed up with the DMRT follow-up test. The results showed that the P10 treatment showed the best results on all weed parameters. Meanwhile, the weed extract treatment had less effect on controlling weeds. However, treatment P9 showed better results than all treatments and had the most potential to be recommended as a bio-herbicide.
