Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu adanya hubungan signifikan antara efikasi diri dan pemahaman mendengarkan mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Angkatan 2019 di Universitas Borneo Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik total sampling Peneliti mengambil 65 mahasiswa untuk melaksanakan penelitian ini. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner, dan test mendengarkan Kuesioner efikasi din dari Rahimi and Abedini (2009) dengan 20 pernyataan yang digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan pemahaman mendengarkan Penelitian ini menggunakan uji, korelasi Pearson Product Moment untuk menganalisa data. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara efikasi diri dan pemahaman mendengarkan dengan nilai rest (0.0640) lebih besar dari r-table (0.244) yang menandakan adanya hubungan. Hasil dari test pemahaman mendengarkan yang diuji dengan TOEFL diagnostic-test yang kemudian di konversi ke CEFR level mahasiswa Hasil dari konversi CEFR level menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Angkatan 2019 di Universitas Borneo Tarakan berada pada level A2.

The objective of this research was to find out whether there was a significant relationship between self-efficacy and listening comprehension of the fourth semester students of English Education Department of Borneo Tarakan University. This research employed correlational research. The determination of the sample was carried out by using a total sampling technique which consisted of 65 students from two classes of English Education Department. The data were collected using a questionnaire and a listening test and were then analyzed using a Pearson Product Moment correlation. The self-efficacy questionnaire was adopted from Rahimi and Abedini (2009) consisting of 20 statements and the listening test was taken from the TOEFL diagnostic test (Phillips, 2001) consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions. The results of this research showed that the students' self-efficacy was in moderate category with the mean score of 64.49 and their listening comprehension was in A2 (Basic User-Elementary) level of CEFR with the mean score of 44.37. The result of the Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis was 0.640 which was greater than the r-table value (0.244). It indicated that there was a relationship between the students' self-efficacy and their listening comprehension. The value of the r-test (0.640) was inclined to have a strong correlation.
