Abstract

Sistem pendidikan di seluruh dunia telah terpengaruh akibat menyebarnya pandemi Covid-19. Fenomena baru ini memaksa para guru dan siswa untuk melakukan proses belajar mengajar dari rumah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris via online yang dilaksanakan selama pandemi Covid-19. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survey. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 275 siswa dari kelas XII SMAN 1 Tarakan, SMAN 2 Tarakan, dan SMAN 3 Tarakan. Instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data adalah kuesioner. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa 78,5% siswa menerapkan full online learning selama pandemi Covid-19 dan sisanya (21,45%) belajar sebagian di sekolah dan sebagian lagi secara online. 74,5% siswa melakukan pembelajaran daring setiap hari dan sebagian besar (49,45%) menghabiskan waktu 3-4 jam sehari. Selain itu, para siswa menyatakan bahwa mereka berinteraksi dengan guru melalui kelas online menggunakan Google Classroom, Quipper School, media sosial, email, dan video conference yang disediakan oleh guru seperti Zoom Cloud Meeting, Google Meet, dan WhatsApp Video Call. Persepsi siswa secara keseluruhan terhadap penggunaan pembelajaran daring berada pada kategori tinggi. Dimensi persepsi dilihat dari (1) minat, (2) psikologi. (3) kebutuhan, (4) suasana hati, dan (5) perhatian, dimana masing-masing dimensi dipersepsikan tinggi oleh siswa, kecuali minat yang tergolong rendah. persepsi. Hal ini dikarenakan siswa merasa kesulitan dalam memahami pelajaran (82,18%), kurang konsentrasi (73,82%), dan kurang percaya diri (70,18%) selama pembelajaran daring Meskipun menyadari pembelajaran daring memberikan manfaat, namun mereka lebih memilih belajar di sekolah (tatap muka) daripada belajar melalui pembelajaran daring karena siswa membutuhkan interaksi sosial yang nyata dan tanpa batas

The educational system across the world has been affected due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. This new phenomenon forced teachers and students to do the teaching and learning process from home. The objective of this research was to investigate the students' perception of the English online learning which had been implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic. The design of this research was quantitative descriptive with a survey approach. The subjects of this research were 275 students from the twelfth grade of SMAN 1 Tarakan, SMAN 2 Tarakan, and SMAN 3 Tarakan. The instrument to collect the data was a questionnaire. The findings of this research revealed that 78.5% of students applied full online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic and the rest of them (21.45%) learned some at school and some online. 74.5% of students carried out online learning every day and most of them (49.45%) spent 3-4 hours a day. In addition, the students stated that they interacted with the teachers through online classes using Google Classroom, Quipper School, social media, e-mail, and video conferences provided by the teachers such as Zoom Cloud Meeting, Google Meet, and WhatsApp Video Call. The students overall perception of the use of online learning was in the high category. The dimensions of the perception were viewed from (1) interest, (2) psychology, (3) need, (4) mood, and (5) attention, where each dimension was perceived high by the students, except interest which was in low perception. This was because the students felt difficulty in understanding the lesson (82.18%), lack of concentration (73.82%), and less confidence (70.18%) during online learning Although they realized online learning gave benefits, they preferred to study in school (face to face) rather than study through online learning because the students needed real and limitless social interaction.
