Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPS siswa kelas IV SD Al-Hilal Tarakan dengan menggunakan metode diskusi Tarakan tahun ajaran 2011-2012.
Sesuai dengan tujuan dari Penelitian, maka metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian dilaksanakan mulai bulan Mei sampai Juni 2012 terdiri dari 2 siklus. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SD Al- Hilal Tarakan tahun ajaran 2011-2012 dengan jumlah siswa 14 siswa. Data yang dikumpulkan pada setiap siklus adalah data observasi aktivitas guru dan aktivitas siswa, hasil tes belajar siswa.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada siklus I diperoleh hasil observasi aktivitas guru rata–rata 40 dengan persentase 72,7% termasuk kriteria baik. Sedangkan hasil observasi siswa rata-rata 22 dengan persentase 73,3%. Untuk hasil tes prestasi pada sikus I yaitu 67,8, pada siklus II diperoleh hasil tes prestasi dengan rata–rata 82,07. Untuk peningkatan nilai siswa mencapai 50%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar IPS siswa kelas IV SD Al-Hilal dengan menggunakan metode diskusi tahun pembelajaran 2011–2012.

The objective of this research was to imporove the result Elementary School Forth Grade Students of IPS Al-Hilal by using Discussion Methods in academic year 2011 to 2012. Related to the objective of the reseach method which used in this study was classroom action research. The subject of the study was the students of class The research was conducted from May to June 2012 consisted of two cycles. Subjects were students in forth grade at SD Al- Hilal Tarakan 2011-2012 school year by the number of students 14 students. Data collected at each cycle of activity is the observation data of teachers and student activities, student test results. Based on the results observation on the cycle I was found mean the activity of teachers - 40 with the average percentage of 72.7% including both criteria. While the observation of students with an average of 22 percentages 73.3%. For achievement tests at cycle, I is 67.08, the second cycle of achievement test results obtained with the average 82.07. To increase student scores reached 50%. These results indicate that an improve learning out comes IPS elementary school fourth grade students of SD Al-Hilal by using Discussion Methods in academic year 2011 to 2012.
