Abstract

Hypothermia is a condition where the body temperature is below the normal range (36°C). As a result of surgery and anesthesia, hypothermia can happen in the operating room during pre, infra, and post operation. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of warm infusions and convective warming devices in treating hypothermic sectio caesarean surgery patients. This research method used a two-group pre- and post-design strategy with a quasi-experimental study design. The study's sample consisted of 30 respondents. Purposive sampling was performed in the sampling process, and the results showed that 15 respondents received an intervention using a convection warming device and 15 additional respondents received an intervention using warm infusion. As a result of the Shapiro-Wilk test, variable data were not normally distributed. The convective warming device and warm infusion had an impact on raising body temperature in patients with sectio caesarea, according to the Mann-Whitney test, which revealed a significance value of Pvalue 1,000 > 0.05 in the first 5 minutes, 0.695 > 0.05 at 15 minutes, and 1.000 > 0.05 at 30 minutes. Thus that both treatments for hypothermia were equally effective. This study found no difference in effectiveness between warm infusions and convective warming device therapies for patients who had caesarean sections and become hypothermic. Based on the findings of the data analysis, it was determined that RSUD dr.H.Jusuf SK, particularly OK Cito, will likely be able to employ alternate convective warming devices in the future for patients undergoing sectio caesarean surgery who have hypothermia in addition to warm infusion.
