Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik diskusi kelompok terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa di SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan Tahun Pelajaran 2015/2016. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pre-eksperimental design dengan bentuk one group pretest-posttest desaign. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 239 siswa dan sampel 12 siswa SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan. Metode pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan skala kemandirian belajar siswa dengan skala likert. Penelitian ini menggunakan rumus product moment untuk uji validitas skala kedisiplinan siswa dengan hasil dari 40 butir pernyataan terdapat 23 butir yang valid. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis deskriptif dan inferensial dengan menggunakan uji wilcoxon dikorelasikan menggunakan program SPSS 22.0 for windows.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian sebelum dan sesudah pemberian perlakuan, diperoleh hasil perhitungan uji hipotesis dengan pengambilan keputusan berdasarkan probabilitas diperoleh nilai asymp sig = 0,002 ˂ α = 0,05 maka H0 ditolak maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh teknik diskusi kelompok terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa di SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan tahun pelajaran 2015/2016.

The purpose of this research is to know the effect of Group Discussion to Independent Learning in SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan in School Year 2015/2016.This research is a pre-experimental research design which using one group pretestposttest design. The population in this study is 239 student while using 12 student as sample of SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan. Method of data collection in this study using a scale of independent learning with Likert scale this study use product moment to test the validity of the student independent learning that the result 23 valid items of 40 items. Data analysis techniques in this research was descriptive and inferential analysis using the Wilcoxon test were correlated using SPSS 22.0 for windows. Based on the research result before and after treatment, result calculation hypothesis test decision-making based on the probability that the value asymp sig = 0,002 ˂ α = 0,05, Ho is rejected, it can be concluded that there is the influence of group discussion techniques to whom independent learning student in SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan school year 2015/2016.
