Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan teknik Dictogloss dalam tulisan teks deskriptif siswa di kelas VIII-4 SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-eksperimen untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan teknik Dictogloss dalam tulisan desriptif teks siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan dalam penggunaan teknik Dictogloss dalam tulisan teks deskriptif siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil dari nilai rata-rata pretest dan posttest siswa. Nilai rata-rata siswa pada pretest adalah 40.60 sedangkan nilai rata-rata siswa pada posttest adalah 57.88. Nilai rata-rata siswa pada posttest lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai rata-rata siswa pada pretest. Peningkatan dari nilai rata-rata posttest ke pretest adalah 17.28. Hasil dari Paired Sample t-test menunjukkan hasil 8.178 dan lebih tinggi dari t-table (2.064). Selain itu, hasil dari sig (2 tailed) adalah 000 lebih rendah dari 0,05. Dari hasil tersebut, bisa dilihat bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan antara nilai pretest dan posttest siswa setelah menggunakan teknik Dictogloss. Berdasarkan penjelasan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik Dictogloss efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menyimak siswa dikelas VIII-4 dalam penulisan desriptif tekt.

The objective of the research was to know the effectiveness of Dictogloss technique in Improving Students’ Listening in Descriptive Text of Second Grade students at SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan. The method used in this research was quantitative method. The design of this research was pre-experimental design in order to know the Dictogloss technique in improving students’ listening skill in form of descriptive text. The result of this research showed that there was improvement in the students’ listening skill on descriptive text after improving Dictogloss technique. It was proven by the result of the students’ mean score in the pretest and posttest. The students’ mean score in the pretest was 40.60 meanwhile the students’ mean score in the posttest was 57.88. The students’ mean score in posttest was higher than in the pretest. The improvement of the mean score from pretest to posttest is 17.28. The result of Paired Sample t-test showed that 8.178 and higher than t-table (2.064). Meanwhile, the result of sig (2 tailed) 000 is lower than 0,05. From the results, it can be seen there is significant improvement between students’ pretest and posttest score after using Dictogloss technique. Based on the explanation, it can be concluded that Dictogloss is effective in class VIII-4 to improving students’ listening skill in Descriptive text.
