Abstract
Drift gillnet merupakan alat tangkap yang bersifat aktif, teknik pengoperasiannya dengan cara dihanyutkan dan mengikuti arah arus pasang surut. Tujuan penelitian menguraikan komposisi dan ukuran hasil tangkapan utama drift gillnet. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan drift gillnet dengan ukuran mata jaring 2 inchi, panjang jaring 10 m dan lebar jaring 3 m dengan jumlah jaring 33 set selama 2 bulan dalam 4 trip penangkapan di Muara Sesayap, Kabupaten Tana Tidung, Kalimantan Utara. Komposisi hasil tangkapan berdasarkan jenis memperoleh 15 jenis ikan hasil tangkapan yang terdiri dari ikan demersal, ikan pelagis, molusca dan crustacea dengan jumlah keseluruhan 1.561 ekor ikan dengan berat 166,126 kg. Komposisi hasil tangkapan berdasarkan berat dengan hasil tangkapan utama (HTU) sebesar 74%, hasil tangkapan sampingan (HTS) sebesar 20% dan hasil tangkapan buangan (HTB) sebesar 6%. Komposisi hasil tangkapan berdasarkan ukuran ikan target dengan pengukuran 120 sampel ikan senangin memiliki kisaran modus atau kelompok umur 13.00-35.07 cm dan didominasi oleh ukuran 18.52-21.27 cm, 35 ekor diantaranya telah mengalami matang gonad dan 85 ekor masih dalam fase pertumbuhan serta belum layak tangkap.

An active fishing instrument known as a drift gillnet works by being washed away and moving in the direction of tidal currents. The aim of this research was to describe the composition and size of the main catch of drift gillnet. The research used descriptive quantitative methods. Sampling was conducted using a drift gillnet with a mesh size of 2 inches, a net length of 10 m and a net width of 3 m with 33 sets of nets, for 2 months in 4 fishing trips in Muara Sesayap, Tana Tidung Regency, North Kalimantan. According to the species-based breakdown of the catch, there were 15 different species of fish collected, including demersal, pelagic, mollusk, and crustacean species, totaling 1.561 fish and weighing 166.126 kg. The composition of the catch was based on weight, with the main catch (HTU) of 74%, by-catch (baycatch) of 20% and discarded catch (HTB) of 6%. The composition of the catch based on the size of the target fish resulted in a measurement of 120 samples. Giant threadfin had a range of mode or age group of 13.00-35.07 cm and was dominated by the size of 18.52-21.27 cm, 35 of them had experienced gonad maturity and 85 were still in the growth phase and not fit for catching.
