Robot line follower merupakan suatu bentuk robot yang dapat berjalan mengikuti sebuah lintasan yang berbentuk garis berwarna hitam diatas permukaan berwarna putih atau sebaliknya. Dalam perancangan dan implementasinya banyak masalah yang harus dipecahkan, diantaranya adalah bahasa komputer yang digunakan oleh robot untuk dapat menerima perintah dan arsitektur perangkat keras yang meliputi perangkat elektronik dan mekanik, Penelitian ini merancang, mengimplementasikan dan menganalisa gerak robot line follower menggunakan mikrokontroler AT89S51 berbasis sensor infra merah, dimana program AI (Artificial Intelligence) yang dibuat dengan menggunakan bahasa komputer ditanam pada mikrokontroler AT89S51. Basis pengetahuan robot berisi pengkodean aksi yang harus dilakukan oleh robot berdasarkan informasi dari sensor infra merah yang didapat. Pada penelitian ini didapat hasil bahwa robot line follower dengan AI yang tertanam pada mikrokontroler AT89S51 menunjukkan semua sistem dapat bekerja dengan baik, dengan ditunjukannya robot line follower dapat membedakan warna latar putih dengan garis yang berwarna hitam dan program AI mampu menyelaraskan kerja antara sensor dengan bagian rangkaian motor driver.

Line follower robot is a kind of robot that can walk the path that shaped follow a black line on white surface or vice versa. In designing and implementing many of the problems to be solved, such as a computer language used by the robot to be able to receive commands and architectural hardware which includes electronic and mechanical devices, This study design, implement and analyze the motion of the robot line follower using AT89S51 microcontroller based infrared sensors, where the program AI (Artificial Intelligence) which is made using a computer language were planted in the microcontroller AT89S51. The knowledge base contains the coding robot action needs to be done by robots based on information from infrared sensors are obtained. In this research, we got the result that the line follower robot with AI that is embedded in the microcontroller AT89S51 shows all the system can work well, with ditunjukannya line follower robot can distinguish colors on a white background with black lines and the AI program capable of aligning with the work between the sensor circuit motor drivers.
