Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana proses pembelajaran bahasa inggris khususnya dengan menggunakan media lagu bahasa inggris. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga melakukan penelitian terhadap siswa untuk memperoleh informasi tambahan terkait tentang pembelajaran kosa kata menggunakan lagu bahasa inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penentuan sample dilakukan dengan teknik Purposive sampling. Peneliti mengambil 32 siswa dari kelas 7-6 di SMPN 12 Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua instrumen, yaitu: observasi dan interview. Peneliti menggunakan analisis data terdiri dari tiga kegiatan, yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Peneliti melakukan penelitian dalam empat pertemuan. Setelah menganalisis data, ada empat poin kesimpulan. Pertama, proses mengajar dan belajar kosa kata melalui lagu. Kedua, siswa memperoleh beberapa kesulitan saat belajar bahasa inggris, yaitu: siswa kesulitan ketika mendengarkan lagu yang asing, siswa juga kesulitan cara mengucapkan kosa kata baru, siswa juga kurang paham dengan arti kosa kata baru. Ketiga, guru kesulitan untuk memonitoring siswa secara langsung, dikarenakan situasi pandemic. Dan keempat siswa dapat mengenal teknologi dengan menggunakan google classroom. Proses pembelajaran berlangsung melalui google classroom.

This study aims to describe how the process of learning English, especially by using the media of English songs. In addition, this study also conducted research on students to obtain additional information related to learning vocabulary using English songs. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Determination of the sample is done by purposive sampling technique. Researchers took 32 students from grades 7-6 at SMPN 12 Tarakan. This study uses two instruments, namely: observation and interview. Researchers used data analysis consisting of three activities, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Researchers conducted research in four meetings. After analyzing the data, there are three conclusion points. First, the process of teaching and learning vocabulary through songs. Second, students have several difficulties when learning English, namely: students have difficulty listening to foreign songs, students also have difficulty pronouncing new vocabulary, and students also do not understand the meaning of new vocabulary. And third, teachers find it difficult to monitor students directly, due to the pandemic situation. So, the learning process takes place through Google Classroom.
