Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan terhadap proses pembelajaran online dan bagaimana nilai bahasa Inggris pada saat pembelajaran daring. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi online di kelas VIII-A, dan dokumentasi nilai semester Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas VIII. Peneliti melakukan wawancara untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi siswa terhadap proses pembelajaran online. Untuk memverifikasi keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan dokumentasi rekaman wawancara siswa. Selanjutnya peneliti melakukan observasi di kelas VIII-A untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran online di kelas bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberikan persepsi negatif terhadap proses pembelajaran online. Siswa menghadapi banyak kendala selama proses pembelajaran online seperti kesulitan memahami materi pembelajaran, masalah dengan akses internet dan perangkat, dan pemadaman listrik selama proses pembelajaran. Selain itu siswa tidak dapat mengikuti pembelajaran dengan baik selama pembelajaran online. Nilai bahasa Inggris siswa menunjukan sebanyak 10% siswa berada pada category sangat baik, 10% siswa berada pada kategori baik, 30% siswa berada pada kategori cukup dan 50% siswa berada pada category kurang baik. Dengan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa persepsi siswa selama proses pembelajaran daring cenderung negatif berdasarkan hasil wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan

This study aims to determine the perception of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan on the online learning process and to know how the student’s English score are during online learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive and the sample was done by random sampling technique. Data collection were interviews, online observations in class VIII-A, and documentation of the English semester scores of class VIII students. The researcher conducted interviews to find out how students perceive the online learning process. To verify the validity of the data in this study, the researcher used recorded student interviews. Furthermore, the researchers conducted observations in class VIII-A to find out the online learning process in the English class. The results of this study indicate that students give negative perceptions of the online learning process. Students face many obstacles during the online learning process such as difficulty understanding learning materials, problems with internet access and devices, and power outages during the learning process. As a result, students cannot follow learning well during the online learning process. In addition, students' English scores showed that 10% of students were the very good category, 10% of students were in the good category, there were 30% students in a fair category and 50% of the students were in the poor category. From this data, it can be concluded that students' perceptions during the online learning process tend to be negative based on the results of interviews, observations and documentation of eight grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Tarakan.
