Peternakan merupakan salah satu dari lima subsektor pertanian. Peternakan adalah kegiatan memelihara hewan ternak untuk dibudidayakan dan mendapatkan keuntungan dari kegiatan tersebut. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) Untuk mengetahui tingkat keuntungan usaha ternak ayam potong di Kelurahan Karang Harapan, (2) Untuk mengetahui tingkat efisiensi teknis pada usaha ternak ayam potong di Kelurahan Karang Harapan. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis efisiensi teknis dan keuntungan.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat keuntungan usaha ternak ayam potong di Kelurahan Karang Harapan Tarakan Barat Kota Tarakan dari 8 responden peternak ayam potong dinyatakan untung karena dapat menutupi biaya dengan jumlah Rp. 293.795.744.00, dan rata-rata sebesar Rp. 36.724.468,00 per peternak per priode. dan tingkat efisiensi teknis pada usaha ternak ayam potong di Kelurahan Karang Harapan Tarakan Barat Kota Tarakan dari 8 responden peternak yang tidak efisien secara teknis adalah tempat makan (-2,709), tempat minum (-13,499), drum (-0,171), profil tank (-0,370), obat-obatan (- 1,168), listrik (-8,168), tenaga kerja (0,773), karena nilainya ˂ 1 yang artinya perlu dilakukan penambahan penggunaan faktor produksi. Sedangkan yang belum efisien secara teknis adalah kandang (1,342), skop (1,490), bibit (1,03), pakan (1,834), karena nilainya ˃ 1 yang artinya perlu dilakukan pengurangan penggunaan faktor produksi.

Livestock is one of five sub sectors agriculture. Livestock is activity of raising livestock for cultivation and take the benefit from these activities. The purpose of the research are (1) To determine the level of profit broilers in Karang Harapan, (2) To determine the level of technical efficiency in the poultry business in Karang Harapan. The analysis method used the analysis of technical efficiency and profit. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the level of profit broiler in Karang Harapan Tarakan City from 8 respeondents breeders of broiler declared profit because can cover the costs in curred the total number of Rp. 293.795.744.00 and an average Rp. 36.724.468.00 and the level of technical efficiency business broiler in Karang Harapan Tarakan City with 8 respondents has not efficiency place food and average value (-2,709), the drinking places (-94,499) and average value (-13,499), average value (-13,499), the total number of profil tank (- 0,741) and average value (-0,370) and average value (-1,168) and the total number of electricity (-40,844) and average value (-8,168) and the total number of worker (1,546) and the labor average value (0,773) it means there was no technically efficient because the value ˂ 1 it means need addition using factor of production. while that is not the technically efficient is cage average value (1,342), kick average value (1,490), seedling average value (1,039) , food (1,834) because the value ˃ 1 means that need reduction factor of production.
